Good plan Zip. Or he could sell Cornetto's from a van at the fan zone:

    Wouldn't mind him.

Would be an improvement on what we have I think.

£17.5 million is a decent sum for him as a player.

He would at least have prem experience.

Personally Cornet is 'last chance saloon'. We'll have to sign him on a 3-5 yr contract and he is not 'that level above' what we have now. He doesn't have 'Star Draw power'.

Top Top players aren't gonna look at him like they look at Botman or Bruno and think 'Wow I wanna play with that guy'

So it's a hard pass for me.

    Just my opinion.

    We can do better.

The window is open for another month so let's not freak out.

Ashworth and Eales are vetrans of the business of football and will get us the players we need to get.

    Keep the faith!

That's a good point about what it looks like to other prospective players...however, in terms of the squad, would he improve us over Murphy or Frasier? I think he would (and if he came in we may get shot of one of them)

Plus, not every player is going to be Bruno or even Botman standard so I think there's room for someone like him.

Totally agree that he does improve us but by how much?

I just don't want to see the club stuck with players on 3-5 contracts on decent wages that we can't shift on to bring in that top tier player in 18-24 months which I'm sure the club and all us fans want to see as we progress into the top 4 / 6 places in the league in the coming years.

The problem is we have got players now that we can’t move on because of high wages

    Manquillo
    Lascelles
    Richie
    Fraser
    Murphy
    Shelvey
    Lewis

None of these will move to a Premier League Club and no Chimpo Clubs could afford them. They will just run down their contracts draining the club.

Very good point. Add Wood to that, I'd imagine.

That said: Fraser has plenty to offer coming off the bench. The problem is his legs over 90 mins. For 45 mins, he is great.

Don't understand why we are not trying harder with Lewis instead of Richie, who is clearly spent. Lastly, I can't see Howe or Newcastle ever getting rid of Lascelles - I don't know what is the fascination with him but he seems to be a fixture at this club.

Would Cornet improve us? Well he scored 9 goals last season in a poor Burnley team that went down. I can't see Murphy or Fraser ever getting that many. For £17.5 mill i'd take him in a heartbeat

100%. He had a hsndful of assists as well.

He's not my dream player but in this stage of our evolution he is just right IMO. 2-3 solid players in each window improving each position each time will do me under our FFP shackles....and we can also sell them on in a couple of years.

Personally I don't mind either Fraser or Murphy I think they both offer something especially coming off the bench. What I've seen of Cornet which I'll be honest isn't a great deal as I'm not an avid Burnley watcher, he isn't really the sort of player that gets me excited about potentially signing him. And I personally don't think he's a better player than Fraser. If we were to try sign him I think the deal should be some money along with either Ritchie or Murphy. If we can't get one of them going the opposite way I don't think there is any point even trying.
