We win a game away against a side that sits 19th in the table, and suddenly SM is back in favour.. He needs to be accountable for all of those points dropped at home against inferior opposition with crowds of a round 10,000 and providing some of the worst boring football seen for ages..
I don't recall anyone complaining about a lack of atmosphere at Meadow Lane during the National League promotion campaign. The team generally played exciting football and the crowd (including the Pavis stand) responded with enthusiasm, as they always will if their team is playing the ball forward at every opportunity and creating chances.

I agree with you that the football at home this season has often been dull and uninspiring to watch, even in some of the games we eventually won, so it should come as no surprise that the crowd reaction is more apathetic. Yes, the players need supporters to get behind them, but the onus is on the team to offer something for them to cheer.

Most clubs have areas of support that are typically more or less vociferous, and fans tend to self-select where they sit based on what they prefer, as is their right as paying punters, but if there's enough happening on the pitch then the whole ground comes alive.

I wasnt refering to the National league.. I was merely pointing out that sometimes no matter how much the crowd get behind the the team, the team doesn't always respond. And that has been very much the case at Meadow Lane this season..

There?s no absolute proof that positive atmosphere results in better results, but it?s a safe assumption that it does.
And to back that assumption I would say easily the best atmosphere we?ve had this season was MK Dons. Was it a coincidence that it was a rare occasion that we came out in the second half and blew them away, when our main issue at home has been the opposite?
An easy reply would be what MKD were garbage. So was Cheltenham, Gillingham, Newport etc?

    Sat 12 Mar 1955 YORK CITY L 0-1 47,310

I suppose 45,000 York fans must have travelled down.

If I went through it carefully I could list many games where we had large crowds against opposition we were not expected to lose against but did.

My impression is that we've lost a disproportionately high number of high attendance games against teams we were expected to beat.

How many home games did we win during the Covid period with no spectators. Just done a search with no results.

No idea but I?d guess we did fairly well.

One thing around Covid was they did research on it and teams playing ?away? had a much higher win percentage than they normally did.

Liverpool lost 6 on spin at ?Anfield? that would never happen with fans not a single chance of that on the flip side Man Utd did well at Old Trafford but as soon as fans returned it changed again for them.

First and foremost you need a good and confident team if you are out of your depth ie Ipswich this season not much fans can do but that isn?t the fault of their fans, players or manager imo.

I’d imagine that was by far the worst set of home results we had in the NL. Not having 8,000-10,000 fans in the ground definitely would have made Meadow Lane an easier place for opposition players to come, especially the likes of Maidenhead and some of the other dross we lost to that season.

This is the point. Too many sitting on their hands and not giving enough vocal support or not giving the oppoosition / ref a hard enough time.
