There's a difference between having it in for them and not having your tongue permanently up their back passages.

It's the super daddy syndrome all over again, rinse and repeat. The more interviews Scardino, Trembling, Trew and Hardy gave, the more human and fallible they revealed themselves to be. Many of the same people fawning at their feet then attacked them for not being the saviours they believed them to be.

As the bros barely say anything, people are left to construct an ideal and perfect image in their heads that everything is being taken care of, they're in control, they're calm, never phased, never panicked, they know what they're doing every step of the way, each apparent set back is actually part of the long term plan, yada yada yada, We don't need to worry or do anything but give praise and thanks, amen.

Should the fan base be revolting? No. Should they be asking questions? probably, though I can accept now is not the time to rock the boat with the club still in a good position, but I can understand why the panic is growing.

Certainly at the end of the season if we haven't gone up, I think Notts really need to think about ripping up plan A and adapting to FL realities. Luton's ascent, rather than Brentford's, would be a more realistic one with which to compare and to try to emulate, but they took the very direct and old school approach I believe.

It's a fair question and it will sound like I'm dodging it, but I'd want to interview people and gauge their character and find out who's got the fire in their belly and who I could hit it off with and have a close relationship with - Not just leave it to box ticking and who will be subservient to the whims of my CEO/Analyst. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't watch FL highlights and post match interviews anymore, I've lost interest.
I cannot believe though that Maynard is the best we can do.

We've just had arguably the man solely responsible for overseeing and being the brains behind the "model" over the past 6 years walking out on the club, one of the 3 best players asking to leave because he wasn't happy with the club, the two coaches being forced out and not replaced, one of the two best players remaining that we seem to be totally relying on to save the season being aged 35 whilst the other is massively injury prone, overseen by a manager who spent his playing career with clubs like Hitchin and Aylesbury and whose crowning achievement before coming to us was finishing 13th in tier 5.
An interesting take on things. I'm not sure what relevance Stuart Maynard's playing career has on anything but I appreciate that it adds a frisson of extra drama to your point about his prior management experience.

Personally, I'd rather the owners and CEO took their time replacing Richard Montague and get it right as his or her role, as you've mentioned, is pivotal. Regarding the departure of the Saunders brothers, yes that is an unfortunate and clearly unforeseen 'incident'. Hopefully they will either be replaced or Joao Alves' expanded responsibilities might suit him and become permanent. Regarding Crowley leaving, he doesn't appear to have been unhappy with the club but rather unhappy with his pay packet in comparison to the one offered by the Franchise. As the club stated, they were not prepared to offer him more than their valuation of him within the structure, which is simply sensible and prudent financial management. Regarding Didzy, and the bonus we have of him playing for us at his own request, despite his age that's simply something to be grateful for and definitely not a negative. Jodi, yes, he is clearly injury prone, can't argue with that one but I would rather have him sometimes than never tbh.

Walking out of the club or more accurately being headhunted and poached by a club two leagues higher. There is a difference. It happened because of his perceived success.

One of the 3 best players asking to leave because he wasn?t happy and the club accepting a rumoured a ?400k+ . That?s quite important.

Two coaches leaving in mysterious unknown circumstances. Being forced out or asked to leave. All depends what exactly went off. Some times you don?t have an option.

Relying so heavily on a 35 year old is far from ideal but what a piece of recruitment. People expected a decline in his performances from last season quite the opposite.

As for the head coach he may have only played and managed at non league level but he?s had us top 7 long in League Two despite all of the above and a level of injuries I don?t believe we?ve witnessed. Many predicted a mid table finish,or relegation , and sacking yet he?s made those people look foolish by not being close to any of those three.

I must have missed the bit under the Trews or Hardy when we sold multiple players for six figure sums, including one rumoured to be circa ?750K, or the bit where we had the league two player of the season and the leagues top scorer. I remember spending six figure sums on players but not sure we received many or any.

Oh and the bit where they spent millions on the clubs infrastructure whilst promising eight though the gate, championship in 5 years, a start premier league striker signing (again) and announcing England?s future manager in front of the press.

Or did I dream all that?.

Out of interest who had Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger played for before they managed top sides ?

I mean we could go for someone like Wayne Rooney great player who has played for great clubs sure he?d know what he is doing or even Troy Deeney he has played top level too.

As I have said several times you are only as good as your players and every single manager needs abit of luck too.

As for our owners I?m happy for them to not start yapping every 5 minutes as long as the bills are being paid it?s all good imo.

Erm, and how do you manage to score more goals? By playing in their half by any chance?

It?s a strange take, RM left to go to a Championship club and Crowleys gone to double/triple his wages, we can?t be held ransom by people and just match what others offer.
As for SM, whether he?s good or not his playing career is irrelevant.
Granted at the moment the Jan window looks like a bit of a sh1tshow but that could change slightly if we get some performances from some of them, it?s not out of the question.

Objectively from the outside looking in you look in a good place , I have kept track from those NL days . Is Maynard really doing that bad a job ?

I don't know how the actual football is obviously but the league position looks decent as of now and you seem to be under good ownership which is a lot more stable than a lot of clubs .

I'm generalising but personally with Town the idea of changing manager terrifies me with what's about in the lower leagues ; Is it that bad you think it's worth throwing the dice so to speak being 5th in the league and doing relatively well?

What is our position in the "playing budget size" league in League Two? What is the discrepancy between this ranking and the actual league position of each club? Sorry if someone's done this before and I know it's not all about money - but I've always been interested if someone has the data.

Montague - Left for the Championship.
Crowley - Left for more money.
The Saunders Bros - Evidence they were forced out?
Not being replaced - Fair, observable point.
McGoldrick being 35 - Not his fault he is still good.
Jones being injury prone - His first injury was literally a leg break.
Relying on those two - Fair point.
Maynards playing record - How is that remotely important to his managerial career?
