so burnley fans spent the game singing about a player who no longer plays for us and booing an opposition player.

bet the 11 who turned out for us really appreciated the 'support'.

".........Grass roots Football does not get enough money full stop, if the Government did stop this £30 Million, then grass roots would get it another way by bypassing the FA, which in my eyes would be better option."

Alto, this part of your argument is quite contradictory because you are correct in stating that grassroots football does not get enough but then you say that they would get it another way.
To be honest, as someone who has been involved in running grassroots football for over 40 years, there is not the money around otherwise we would have got some by other means. If it is Womens' football or anything Under 17 there is money around, however, the problem comes when you get to the senior teams because they are seeing pitch prices rise, pubs and clubs closing down so that there is a lack of sponsorship etc., etc.
If the £30 Million is withdrawn it will have a massive effect on grassroots football with more and more clubs ceasing to exist.

Here in the north east, there have been a number of Saturday league which have gone by the board and in 4 local Sunday leagues we have seen numbers fall from almost 300 clubs to a mere 82 clubs with one league having gone and that is in the last 7 years.

I agree with your sentiments about the FA because this is why there has been a demise in football activity over the past 7 years, they have ignored our pleas. Unfortunately, it is a similar story throughout much of the country.

The rumour mill is suggesting Burnley FC will be hit with "punitive actions" following Saturday's "disgraceful booing!"

Cancel the flights, we are not going!

... it was between the two of them - and was "officially" dealt with - as an allegation not proven - but still, Bong was disappointed with the F.A decision, wasn't happy with it.....so decided to make a statement of his discontent - and there was nothing stopping him, he still felt he was wronged, and was allowed to voice that feeling to whoever was listening....himself seemingly and absolutely convinced he was verbally abused - that then i'd guess, would make him feel better.....but also meant, that from the offset, he was only going fully accept a decision that went his way, which is what made for the murky - and did.....and so "IF" that's what the booing reflected - then it could be said that "IF" there were any racist connection to the booing, it wouldn't be to Bong, but toward the the F.A - and the ruling not going to Bong - in that case, to so convincingly call the Burnley supporters racist - would have to mean the F.A to be racist....in that it was them that determined the result.

This is a sad episode and the sooner we forget it the better. There is now a police inquiry, so they can scrutinise the TV footage, they can ask the referee and his assistants and teams what they heard or didn’t hear. They can scrutinise Facebook, you tube, fans blogs for evidence.
The FA have condemned the booing, but not mentioned any breach or investigation, so perhaps they will wait for the police investigation. Strangely it sounds like it’s Sus*** police doing it which may bias the investigation. I hope they take evidence from the local police and stewards at the game.
The more we write on here the more the danger someone oversteps the mark and keeps this thing rumbling on and on in the media.
Jay is now keeping quiet after wrongly claiming he had been found innocent and sparking Bongs response about his perspective. I suggest we do the same. It is nothing to do with Burnley after all, do some really want to drag the club through the mud and allow others to brand us racist in the way Andre has been labelled a homophobe.

    Aye, much ado about nothing.

But I wish our fans would support the team instead of this kind of nonsense.

If I had worked as hard as our lads have all season and heard the supporters singing about a player who last played for us six years ago I would feel let down.

    Barnes/Vokes/Wood deserve much better.

"They can scrutinise Facebook, you tube, fans blogs for evidence. "

I would sincerely hope they scrutinise this forum, then they might get some idea of how wrong the FA, Hughton and the media are about the reason why Bong was booed. There is no one on here criticising him for accusing Jay of making racist remarks, there has been no racist abuse directed towards Bong, simply an explanation of why he was booed, which was for his refusal to accept the verdict and let the matter rest.

The charges against our fans are trumped up, there is no case to answer.

Sub, you have answered my and your own question, the FA have never directed enough money to grass roots, it would take more than £30 million to accommodate and improve grass roots across the UK, the FA would rather give it to the top teams to make their own money tree tick over, they don't give a toss about grass roots and they cannot understand that the loss of it will impact on the bigger game sooner or later.

This selling Wembley and saying X amount will be earmarked for grass roots is just another saying to comfort grass roots, as alf has stated along with me they are starving grass roots not helping it.

You got me wrong about the £30 Million not being given to the FA for "grass roots" and they would get it another way, I meant the Government allocating it straight to councils for them to distribute to the clubs direct.

Colner, your suggestion that we should not talk about Jay/Bong goes against my grain, I have always spoken my mind, its a right of everyone's to do so, if anyone be it the PC brigade, Police or Government want to split hairs with my words and meaning then I'd love them to bring it on, we are supposed to live in a free democracy, but after all this shoddy work by our Government on every other topic it does not feel that way to me, and now we should keep silent and not give our view ? Not for me Colner.

alto --heaven help us if they give it to the councils direct because there are more and more councils who are trying to offload the maintenance of playing fields and up here in Northumberland they have been encouraged to place mowing and lining equipment in central areas so that grassroots teams can do the work themselves for a reduction in their pitch fees. It has been tried so far in a few places, however, problems are arising where two teams share the same facility because, whereas one team is willing to do whatever is necessary the other is not and this in itself is causing further problems.
In all honesty, the future has got to be with 4G pitches because there have been so many games postponed this season that many local leagues have had to extend their season and some clubs are playing 6 days per week to get fixtures completed, This has also been the case in the Northern League which is part of the pyramid system.
Mind you, therein lies another problem because if a club makes satisfactory progress within the pyrmaid system they will reach a level where 4G pitches are unacceptable. Catch 22 methinks.
