Id like to see that.
But if/when it happens means we then need cover down the left.
Val may have Williams or Oduor lined up for that role.
The decision to go back to Leicester hasn’t been a Leicester decision.
I can’t see James wanting to leave.
Its looking like the decision has come from Barnsley.
So - unless another player is brought in - and that’s unlikely in light of Vals comments relating to being over loaded in centre midfield - then a decision has been made to fill the position once occupied by James.
Not seen enough of Palmer but will take your word, on him
Ismael (Covid Rule Breaker ) will soon realise his ambitions and targets are not matched by Conway.
A Fourth Division defender and a player binned by clubs after loan spells from Norwich could be the best it gets.
I can see both points of view here. However, I still believe that if Mowatt leaves this Jan then it simply shows that the board hasn't yet learned or appreciated about the requirements of not only what it takes to succeed at this level, but also the development and the correct way of nurturing the potential of our players.
As good as Stylesy is, he needs an older head laikin by side o him, sumbdy who can learn him the grubbier side of laikin in midfield. So too does Kane, so too does Palmer.
I might be wrong of course but it strikes me as no coincidence that not only have results been good since James was at the club, Mowatts form has been very good too. If we didn't really need James then unless there was a loan clause, why was he playing as regularly?
Now it could be argued that the points are almost already on the board as regards avoiding the drop is concerned. Perhaps now is a good time (if Mowatt leaves) to integrate in two championship novices. I don't actually know the statistics but i'd wager strongly that between Kane, Styles and Palmer, there can't be more than 20 starts between them at this level in central midfield. That is the big worry for me if Mowatt leaves.
Let me get this straight- I'm not doubting these lads' ability, far from it. From what I've seen they look capable players with some promising attributes. However, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have that knowledge & experience in there to help guide these boys along out there on the pitch. Potential is one thing, nurturing it in the correct way in order to bring the best out of them is quite another.
Good post post Pass and some good points made .
There's no doubt we've been done over before when good players have left the club for what ever season and have exposed ourselves to the harsh realities of championship football .
James and Mowatt are a solid championship pair who have contributed massively so far this season , fair do's .
The problem is one is 29 years old on a whack of money at his parent club and the other hasn't committed himself as yet to the club and is six months away from walking away for nowt .
To tell the truth I'm tired of the Mowatt situation can getting kicked down the road and it's time it was put to an end , he either signs a new deal within the next two weeks or he's told to find himself another club , if he doesn't then fair enough but don't expect to play again for us this season .
Yes it sounds harsh on Alex but the club have to plan ahead and he's not the only show at this club by any means .
It's not without risk losing James and Mowatt but what isn't a risk in football ?
The risk is laid off in my opinion by having 34 Championship points on the board and the fact that James and Mowatt's replacements are already here and part of things , Palmer , Kane and possibly Styles aren't new recruits from europe expected to keep the club in the championship from an August position with absolutely no experience at all .
Palmer , Kane and Styles are a mile away from that coming in to settled environment , a good HC with a hopefully stress free league position .
I'd have liked James to stay and Mowatt to sign but can see the other side of this too .
Things in football change very quickly these days and you have to be able to react just as quick and I firmly believe the club may have this covered if indeed Mowatt does leave the club .
I wouldn't expect the second half of the season to be as successful as the first even with James and Mowatt still at the club , we've nicked some tight games and with the championship we are likely to be on the other side of this in the second half .
24 points in the second half would give us 58 which is decent enough progress for me personally and with James and Mowatt replaced and their replacements even more bedded in for next season .
Leicester dont seem to want him full stop, I can see James leaving for a Champship club this summer.
I just wish we could've kept him here for the whole season, and for me the club are taking a big risk here.
