Barnsley is a relatively poor town.
Since last summer there has been an increase in the cost of living.
This is going to impact season ticket sales.

One thing I do hope for is that supporters who are struggling with the cost of living are not blaming the club directors for the reason they arn’t buying a season ticket.

@Jules88 - And I respect those like yourselves who are holding out and standing their ground on principle and also those that could find more important things to spend their money on in these times. I could have done without the expense right now but if you can still class it as entertainment and get something from it, then over a year, considering the cost of beer now , its not too expensive. As you say, I bought one just for me in the Ponte End, if it was a multibuy proposition it would definitely have been different.

@YN Lets see what the final sales look like , as I said in an earlier post, we saw a boost in sales over recent years based on the promises made by the owners and the freak covid season success, those that would have come back on the promise of good times, I think it will be those who will now have hardened their stay away attitudes even further and it will take a miracle to get some of those back, even if the tides turn.

Each to their own. In the cold light of day, I am still not happy I did it but I know deep down come a sunny day in August, I would have been wondering what if, sat at home watching soccer sat or something. Ahhh its done ....

Hope this whole situation plays out as we hope, fully anticipating some PR smoke an mirrors and to feel somewhat misled down the road.

Cheers for the replies everyone. As I said about my seat proposition, its a community thing as much as a football thing

I’m blaming them for the HOLE we are in. All of it
I’m not buying because the product is cr@p. The organisation and leadership doesn’t know if it’s Arthur or Martha and haven’t a clear vision about the way the product is going to be shaped in the future….

I’ve got the money Nudge. Not the problem. The problem is like this …. If the Butcher sells me cr@p meat, do I still buy meat from him because I’ve known him for years and years ??

    Would you ?

What if the butcher got a new supplier ? you might be prepared to try it because the butcher is trying to put things right but if you have made your mind up that you are never going back to this butchers again then fair enough thats your choice , buy your meat elsewhere or go veggie

I’d let the other folk in the village spend their money eating the meat first

As I've stated since the board was reconstructed Jules I'm currently at POTD level , pick my games and see how it goes .

I looked at Jean Cryne at the Press Conference and it's clear they've had a tough time under the Lee and PMG tenure and my heart went out to her .

We are in better hands right now although whether we are in competent hands remains to be seen .

Very very damaged this club right now , Lee and PMG have set us back years , probably back to the time Wilson took us down in 2013 i reckon but with more financial baggage .

It's not good by any means .

Totally understand your view Jules .

Just wish we didn’t feel like this.

Id have thought 2002 was a worse time for us Animal when we dropped to Lg one.
Although I don't think many fans knew of the difficulties we were in at the time, or were about to be in.

PMG have indeed caused us a lot of grief, and Im guessing stress and heartache as well for the Cryne's. Its a despicable set up where I bet they are still always looking for more clubs to own, because enough is never enough with people like that.

Jules I'll be the first to admit I'm not the supporter I once was , there's probably loads of reasons why that is , the way the game is today , the fact that players and manager's aren't here more than two consecutive seasons , a happy more contented personal life , my grandkids , who knows mate .

I'm not as enthusiastic about doing the hard yards anymore , I feel the bitter cold in winter more than I did , I'm far more tired than I was as a younger man with work .

I lived for the club in the past , this is the bloke who walked out of his own sisters wedding reception to go to Oakwell and return afterwards , home to West Ham I mean c'mon !!!

That wouldn't happen today even if she decided to get married on the day of the Play Off Final at Wembley .

As I say Jules I get where you are at but we can't punish the club for ever either mate .

Go to the first home game perhaps , see how you feel .

Apparently we've passed 6.5 and we're hoping to eventually top 7 thousand on the ST sales.
And that for me for a start, is impressive considering the appalling position PMG have put us in.
And I give credit to all fans who have renewed, and there could be more now depending on this upcoming choice of coach/manager!.
It's dragged on a bit longer than what it should have done, but we all know how important this decision could be.
