There is also an important commodity missing in relation to the owners and some of the fan base, particularly those of us who are disenfranchised from BFC and have kept our money in our pockets for several season.
That commodity is trust. I don’t believe a word that comes out of Grove Street, too
Many times it’s been proven to be lies.
They must make efforts to rebuild these relationships otherwise there is more fuel on the fire of gradual decline.
I won’t hold my breath
Yeah and I think Conway & co wouldn't care if it did fall apart badly here. They can of course, walk away scott-free, into their next business venture, as though they have done nothing wrong.
I do think that our owners do want 'the best' for this club (and that's the nicest thing I can say about it!).
But I also think they don't know what it means, and they don't know how to achieve it.
And that means poor football, and eventual relegation, if it carries on long enough.
We keep having this debate.
Why do so supporters keep claiming that the Barnsley Directors are NOT football people!?!?!
As said numerous times before - are any directors of any football club in the English League ‘football people’ ???
I can’t think of any club that is made up of names such as Dalglish, Shearer, Ferguson etc etc etc.
Our directors know full well they are not football people - hence the employment of a DoF to work with the CEO.
What happened with Lee and Conway - is that they were found out.
They were using money generated by supporters and money generated by sales via the successful recruitment team - and using that money to invest back into the club - without using any money of their own.
It would be great to see our directors making a bit of money - because if they were then there’s a good chance that the club would be successful.
But - to make money they shouldn’t be relying on income solely generated by us and the club to invest into the club.
That’s no risk with potential rich rewards.
Any fool can do that.
What we have now in Neerav and JAQ are people with money that want to be part of the English game.
This is part of their hobby.
They are not here to make £££millions - there are very few individuals that have made money by becoming a director.
They expect to lose money.
A pact has been formed between Neerav, JAQ and the Crynes.
The last I heard the Crynes were happy with this arrangement.
Importantly - if the Crynes are happy - the supporters should be happy.
Basically because the Crynes have the club at heart.
However - we have got to the very last week of the 2024 summer transfer window - and IMO we haven’t got a team - never mind a squad.
To stand any chance of doing anything this season we need more players.
That’s 3 or 4 strikers and a spare left wing back.
We are talking another 4 or 5 players.
That’s a lot of players in a short space of time.
The chances are - we are going to fall short of that.
Whatever strategy the club has had at the start of the window seems to have failed.
This is on the back of a mixed bag of player signings from last season and the appointment of an atrocious head coach.
Even though these directors were weighed down by relegation and the mess left over by Lee and Conway - the new board of directors set off really well in their first season with the appointment of Duff.
Since then some poor decisions have been made - so I’m guessing something behind the scenes has changed.
What ???
Yes damn right Animal. We can only hope that the ownership gets sorted soon in my opinion. It's unhealthy in my opinion, and as you say could bring the club down, having the board made up of people that clearly don't like or trust each other. Sooner Lee and Conway go the better; and as you say the supporters would I'm sure back the remaining group. I am still optimistic, and that's based on the history of the club to come through tough times.
That's right SB. Put yourself in Parekh's position. If I were him, my priority would be to remove Lee and Conway asap. Then I think we might see a different Parekh; I certainly hope so. But as you say, and Ethel, in a later post, it will also require some honest communication with the fan base
Nudge, I don't think I've ever complained that the directors are not football people. Parekh does seem to have strengthened management of football matters with the DoF etc. I just think that Parekh, and I include JAQ and the Crynes as the Parekh group, is currently hamstrung for the reasons that I've suggested.
Lee and Conway will only go if they are "bought out" and walk away with at least the money they have put in, particularly money put in in recent Share Rights Issues.
That will be a cost to the other Directors and/or the Club budget, money they are unwilling to pay or don't have.
Lee and Conway could end up in effect having their EFL Fines paid for by the money they receive in their walk away settlement, the ultimate irony

Arbs - obviously I’m not including you in that.
But if you read through the thread you will see the same themes being repeated time and time again by the same people.
The club tells us what’s happening.
And they have done repeatedly about the structure of the board.
As fans we have to accept what they say.
If we refuse to listen - then that IMO would mean cutting off any interest in the club.
What I would say - is that there isn’t currently enough information coming from the club.
Because I’m sure I’m not the only one that is very concerned regarding the lack of players we have signed.
This week will determine whether we will have a realistic challenge for promotion - or not.
