Seems everyone wants to lob stuff at us and the club, but the information about Jack was printed in the 'Athletic' which started the social media excitement. With a bit of luck he'll rip you lot a new one on Tuesday night after not being paraded as your new player.
That may be true overall, but in this case it seems your lot are lobbing stuff at us! Correct me if I'm wrong by all means, but this is how I think this situation has panned out:
1.Our interest in Jack Bridge became the subject of media attention. The source of that is unknown, but I don't think it came from us.
2. It then became a topic of interest on this messageboard and elsewhere.
3. Because it was a topic of interest on here, our match commentator asked Luke Williams about it after the Yeovil game.
4. Luke Williams answered the question he was asked honestly.
He could have lied, he could have refused to answer, instead he answered honestly. The reason for the outrage on your board shouldn't be directed at Luke Williams, it should be directed at who leaked the info in the first place. We have been in a similar financial situation to your club on a few occasions recently and I know how it feels, so I genuinely hope you find a successful solution. I would however suggest that your vitriol at Luke Williams and Notts County in this case is misplaced, maybe you need to look a bit closer to home.
I probably wouldn't argue with any of your logic there buddy, and I reckon Stan will still have a friendly chat on Tuesday night because Stan is Stan. We stand, at the moment, on the brink of administration, liquidation or possibly breathing space until the next brush with HMRC. Not your problem and I'm not looking for sympathy, but that really does make supporters as edgy as hell. With those sort of scenarios some of our faithful imagine all sorts of things and post stuff accordingly, as I'm sure yours do at times. The most likely culprit is an agent somewhere along the line.
Notts under the current ownership have been extremely adept at keeping signings under wraps until they're unveiled, so it would be somewhat uncharacteristic for us to be so public about the pursuit of Jack Bridge, unless, as LW said, it was already out there and thus no point denying it and getting accused of being dishonest.
Sometimes such information is actually leaked out by the selling club, who actually want to take the money for the player but put a narrative out there aimed at their own audience about having done all they can to keep him. You would imagine that if Southend's financial position is as dire as reported, their priority right now would be to get some money in through any means possible. We had the same situation under Ray Trew a few years ago when talented young players were being sold to Liverpool and the like.
