Have you grasped the past versus present tense? Just want to check before we move on
You do know you are allowed to ask others to move petty arguments to your handbags thread? There have been plenty of examples recently where I have not been involved and you have once again you have said nothing. You could say you've gone as quiet as a mouse..... again. Hmmm I wonder why lol
Whilst I've got you just want to check you don't like the use of nicknames do you? You still find their use disrespectful?
Why do you keep calling it my handbags thread? It's nothing to do with me. It's been explained to you many times that it's the ex-moderators thread. He set it up and asked all posters to use it for petty arguments so threads wouldn't be ruined for others. You openly stuck two fingers up to him and flatly refused to use it. That's why threads like this one has been ruined - because you refused to co-operate with his wishes. You insist on continuing your petty arguments on football threads.
Choo Choo on that.
I'm not keen on silly nicknames, but I can't stop anyone using them if they want to. What I find much worse is rank hypocrisy, where a poster says one thing and then proceeds to do the exact opposite of what he preaches.
Ring any bells?
Reading the overnight posts on this thread from the usual 3 you have to wonder where this idea of infatuation and obsession comes from?
It's made up surely? Where's the evidence?![]()
Handbags Thread R.I.P
[QUOTE=Davy500;39789683]Without doubt our good defense under NA was very much at the expense of attacking football. The majority of the side was setup defensively, the main focus was on the defence and shape.
However you may want to check your Facts Davy regarding how long we had the tightest defence in the league. Only about a week? Are you sure only 5 sides had scored less goals? Promise?
Nobody can seriously deny NA was a defensive conservative manager overall nor can anyone say he didn't create a team with an impressive defensive record.
And above all isn't goal difference more important that goals scored? When NA left the building in the top 7 only Stockport , Torquay and leaders Sutton had a better goal difference than Notts. That's a fact.
Not sure about below 7th but that isn't much of a concern when you are in 6th with games in hand.
Reading that, especially Ardley's truly awful start in charge with just 1 win in 12 it sounds like the true turning point was Alan Hardy hand selecting and appointing Neal Ardley as manager!
Unless you instead believe it was the earlier premature sacking of Kevin Nolan, which could easily be argued.
To suggest the turning point was the playoff game against Coventry is a stretch at best, laughable at worse.
Personally I find it highly amusing when people who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag criticise someone who got a League Two team promoted who were also poorer than us, and then kept them in league one on a shoestring budget. Wonder how he managed that?
I suppose that and getting us into the playoff spots in this league counts for nothing.
Ye men of few ideas...
A player going back to his former club to manage is a very different set of circumstances. Ardley failed to do the job he was brought in to do at Notts and then failed to do the job he was kept on to do, not once but twice. If he goes on to make a success of himself elsewhere, it's not going to change what he did here, that is set in stone now.
Anybody still making excuses for his time at Notts is simply trying to rationalise their own failure to spot the bleeding obvious later than just about everybody else.
Digging yourself further into that hole is not going to encourage people to respect your opinion.
