Thread: Dom Ballard

    Dom Ballard

Unlike some I think we have the basis of a 1st XI strong enough to challenge next season and the addition of 1 or even better 2 half decent strikers would solve most of our problems (imo if we've had had just 1 on Saturday we would have won!)

First place I'd look is League 1. Top scorer Dom Ballard 23 goals in an Orient side which struggled and finished 20th. Don't know anything else about the lad except he's 22 and out of contract!

If we do need someone to 'assist' top of that chart is one Reyes Cleary. Couldn't make it up!

Interesting logic 923 buddy. I wonder whether anyone is scouting for us in the lower leagues?
Essentially our recruitment has been dire and some of our releases/transfers out have reflected our lack of recognition of potential.
Really not sure how we would improve in this area!

You make a good point about talent in the lower discussions. Lincoln hammered us pre season and have walked the league and no doubt would hammer us again. We should be looking at some of their players. Asante was discovered for peanuts and now Premier league and Caleb could be too. I would rather gamble on another Asante than spend circa five million on a very underwhelming Heggebo!

Dom Ballard is a super player but he is under contract. I only know this because I read that they have stuck a ?15m price tag on him as they benchmarked him to Jay Stansfield. They obviously wont get that much.

He is the sort of player we should be targeting though. Like a Shane Long type signing.

Misread the contact situation which is 'out of contract with Southampton in 2026'

I do think if we found a 20+ goal a season or even half decent striker it would for me solve most of our problems. That squad was good enough to get us 2nd in the league late October and good enough to go 10 unbeaten. What cost us was disappointing management followed by (struggling to find the right word) management.

We desperately need a pacey creative midfielder too as here lies many of our problems, Mowatt and Molumby do a job but have no pace or creativity,
