  • Remember 1986? Norman led after 3 rounds in all 4 majors but only won one.

In the masters he hit his second shot on 18 into the crowd and made bogey to lose by 1 shot

In the US open he shot a final round 75 to end up 12th

In the PGA he shot a last round of 76 to lose by 2 shots.

I don’t play golf but if I did, I wouldn’t mind being as bad as Greg Norman was.

Indeed, the shark won The Open twice, by f uck, he could/should have won more majors, however to call the best player in the world for some time a choker is a disservice to his competitors who beat him in many events, hay hoh, he will, like myself be chilling with a decent Malbec wishing we were as good as those that see someone as a choker.

31 and both were/are tremendous ball strikers albeit in different eras, neither like myself, would call the shark a choker though, hay hoh, you crack on and look forward to the final, I certainly am and hopefully golfing again soon.

              • Phil Mickelson has 5 majors to his name but some still consider him a choker given the number of times he has lost from a winning position, especially at the US Open.

Montgomerie also obviously failed to convert his Tour success into majors but I don't think he ever really choked (with the exception of his 2nd at the final hole of the 2006 US Open...although at that stage he didn't know that Mickelson would also have a meltdown) - he just never seemed to enjoy the rub of the green, pardon the pun, when he needed to.

I watched Manchester in Ellon Golf Club (dirty bar) with a couple of Huns. "Schadenfreudian glow" indeed that night. And a sore heed at work the next day
Neither should we forget Ullevi/Tannadice in 1987.

Bottled it and won the "Fair Play Award", despite their tendency to chant "Miller's a P*ki" at our no 6, and playing savages like Kirkwood and Holt in their dourly "efficient" ancestor of the anti-fitba Masons and St Johnstone.
