An intriguing tie. Burnley are fresh from a very welcome 2-0 home win v Sunderland. Derby meanwhile have just picked up their first league point with a 1-1 home draw v Bristol City. This followed defeat away to Stoke on the opening day of the Championship season and then a 3-5 home loss to free scoring Coventry City. The Clarets will be happy to have a home tie after NINE successive away Cup draws. Manager Scott Parker will probably field a strong side to face the Rams though Esteve will probably be rested after picking up a knock v the Black Cats. Danger man for the visitors is striker Carlton Morris. Still only 29 Morris was a prolific goalscorer with previous club Luton Town. Other threat: The Floodlights. If BFC?s electrician can?t get them fixed we won?t be watching anyone on Tuesday night.

These early EFL games are full of shocks, whether PL teams just use them as fitness builders as we will do, and the other team is actually a team really needing money from progression. So on paper, yes BT but in reality who knows. Look at what happened in the FA Cup last season, they wanted and needed it a lot more.

Priorities yes agree BT, but with a huge squad, it has a usefulness to stay in it for as long as possible without overloading players, game time for peripherals and youth. Hope we can stay in it. For tonight's game the time could not have need much better.Last edited by wmdave_b; 26-08-2025, 12:50 PM.

Lots of our players need game time. Play them and risk an adverse result I say.Originally posted by wmdave_b View PostPriorities yes agree BT, but with a huge squad, it has a usefulness to stay in it for as long as possible without overloading players, game time for peripherals and youth. We can rest a number of key players for the Manchester United game as you point out BT and still put out a strong team. We seem in general better prepared this time round in the PL but I will be happier when our injured/not ready are available for selection.Originally posted by The Bedlington Terrier View PostLots of our players need game time.
