You don’t say…well spotted Tricky!Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View Post[/B]
Obviously that is aimed at Farage. Now I don't like any MP having a second job. It can and does lead toa conflict of interest.
But the same thing happens with Labour MP's, as recently shown 50% of them get funds from unions.
Is this a second job?
It certainly means that they are being influenced and their decisions being lob sided.
Personally, I'd up the salary, no second jobs, no back handers.
You either do the job as it stands or not at all.
When a bloody train driver can get nearly as much as an MP, for pulling a few levers, pushing a few buttons. Then something is seriously wrong.
Glad we agree about NO MP’s having second jobs but don’t see why the salary needs increasing.
Not sure train drivers just ‘pull a few levers and push a few buttons’. Suppose you could say much the same about pilots and those coach drivers…just push a couple of pedals and turn a big wheel!!
Seem to have a pretty big responsibility to me…possibly even more than estate agents and accountants.

I myself have driven machinery using 12 hydraulic levers at the same time, in a dangerous environment, as well as driving locomotives underground. It isn't rocket science. Many rail systems around the world are at least semi automated, some fully automated. I bet your car does a lot of work for you as well. Mine does. Cruise control/ lane assist/ auto cruise fast-slow/ auto brake/ collision alert/ etc. Teslas are ready now for full auto drive, as soon they give in.
Are you telling me, that a train driver, that gets more money than squadren leader at level 8, flying a Typhoon or F35 fighter bomber has a difficult job, worthy of that pay scale?
The MP's salary needs increasing , to keep the job competitive for the best brains going. No second jobs/ no gifts/ no funding. Just do the job you was selected for. That is your focus. Don't want it still, then don't do it?

Like I said automate it and remove the lousy service these plebs deliver and the unions power to disrupt the economy with a closed shop.

Let's just go and borrow gazillions from middle eastern kingdoms or Emirates then we can pay everyone 100k a year. Simples. Or economy is likely ****ed already so no problem ****ing it up some more.
We need to appreciate that as a country we are unsustainable - we produce bigger all and have a massive visible trade deficit (albeit abated by invisible earnings). Everyone's hand is out shouting me, me, me ... both as individuals and institutionally - we were before the last election and we are looking to ing to keep on digging under KS.
Enough is enough, we are now bordering on third world. Let's lose the entitlement and face reality

You mentioned train drivers in post #1469. Nobody else had. I wrote a post on part of a train driver's responsibility in reply to your post. Do you not understand that THAT is how forums (and in person conversations) work?Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostSo does a taxi driver/ lorry driver/ bus driver/ pilot/ pizza guy on a moped/. Get out of bed the wrong side this morning, did you? I mean, Pizza guy on a moped? You cannot be serious, however, you probably are...Last edited by MadAmster; 20-08-2024, 11:54 AM.

I haven’t mentioned squadron leaders or Typhoon/fighter bomber pilots because I haven’t got a clue how they compare.Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostJesus RA, is that what you really think?

I just feel you’re being a little disrespectful to train drivers and the idea of anyone giving you ‘12 hydraulic levers’ to manage simultaneously in a ‘dangerous environment’ is something I find deeply disturbing.

I could say the say the same with the corruptable young minds having to deal with your bonkers "softy, we surrender" attitude.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostI haven’t mentioned squadron leaders or Typhoon/fighter bomber pilots because I haven’t got a clue how they compare.

I learned through an apprenticeship, to know every machine under my jurisdiction, inside and out.
Let me tell you, those 12 levers became second nature, whilst moving back and forwards and probably watching a cutting head at the same time.
So yes, I was being disrespectful, in the fact that a train drivers job has been trumpeted up, beyond belief.
Also, if you have no idea how a modern day jet fighter complexity compares to operating a train, then god help you. Refer back to line 1
Just to help you.
A train driver requires a couple of GCSE's
A pilot minimum, To become an RAF pilot, one requires passing grades in maths, English and at least three other GCSE subjects and at least two A-level results of a Grade C or higher. A fighter pilot? Lets just say a lot moreLast edited by Trickytreesreds; 20-08-2024, 07:34 PM.
