To be fair saying Armstrong might stay provided he doesn't get a better offer is a bit of a wishy wishy rumour. And even Willie Thorne might have won a tenner on fozzy staying.

Oooh I see somebody has had the "fun" surgically removed, though rather amusing that he is happy to make statements on other subjects based on unverified internet/media sources or even just anecdotal evidence, but supposedly doesn't take any notice of transfer rumours until the players signature is announced on the clubs website!!

It adds a wee bit of entertainment in the closed season to ponder on various rumours and see how, or if any of those mentioned actually sign for the club. Harmless gossip and speculation surely.

Keep wrigglin’ Andy. You started a thread on 3rd May - the final day of last season - entitled ‘Next Season Recruitment’.
Always seemed a tad premature, but most of the fun of the close season is pontificating about who’ll go and how they’ll be replaced.
I guessed, after starting the thread, you wanted replies and a bit of tittle tattle from whatever source. Silly of me.

Premature I?ll accept as a view, but in my case all factual. You?ve actually got the colliwobbles about there not being the right type of rumours which is beyond wierd. And as usual I see you have an echo

See post 77 and stop being daft. ‘Collywobbles’? As if…I simply made the observation that we seem to have been linked with a lot of central defenders and that that is a position we’re already quite well covered for.
Actually last night we were, coincidentally, linked with an Azerbaijanian striker but I won’t mention it again as he hasn’t passed your verification test yet.

Echo? No, that’s just agreement with me. You know, how GP and TTR often do with you.

Hope things work out for him, no honest I mean it, honest, ok no I dont.

I genuinely hope he does well. However, I do remember him missing an open goal at Middlesbrough by scooping it over the bar from the 6 yard box when it would be easier to score and we lost the game.

Full of promise which never really developed, just shows how precarious a football players career can be especially at this level.

It seems AF is still smarting from being comprehensively shown up over his comments on the political thread RA! So exposed was he, that he was seeking back up for his views from the dim red fan, which is a real measure of desperation.

Anyhow, how dare you express an opinion on a fans forum!! You should know by now you need genuine anecdotal evidence to back any views up and sulk when people call such "evidence" into question.

Dare I add that another Blackburn player we’re quite strongly linked with is midfielder Lewis Travis? Apparently went on loan to Ipswich and was part of their promotion side two seasons ago but flourished under Eustace on his return to Rovers.
Guess it’s inevitable that Blackburn are the new Rotherham as far as we’re concerned, but moneybags Wrexham are also said to be very interested.
They could probably offer more wages but where would you rather play each week…Pride Park or in front of twelve and a half thousand at the Racecourse?

All supposition of course, just reading around the internet and his name cropped up once or twice. Calm down AF, just a bit of harmless fun and guesswork after the briefest bit of ‘research’.

Yes there are rumours as he is in the last year of his contract, though the sum of £2million has been mentioned and I'd think we might be needing that dosh for a good striker.

I do laugh at some press reports, for instance Portsmouth have apparently "beaten" Derby to sign a player from West Brom, just because Derby were supposedly interested in signing him in January!

Always have to separate the wheat from the chaff where all football rumours are concerned. Some will make sense and be well founded while others will be from the land of make believe, but that’s just part of the fun.
Of course everything may change significantly if the supposed take over goes ahead (July 1st?)…or is that just another rumour too?

I can categorically confirm there is no take over happening RA! There has been murmurings from old Chairman Appleby about being open to discussions with Clowes about investing which has been spun by the media as a possible takeover, but its just gossip at this stage, there have been no discussions and no firm offer.

Even if there was an offer, any such deal would take a couple of months at least if not more (depending on whether it was a purchase of a share or a full takeover.

Personally I sincerely hope Appleby does not get anywhere near the club again, given the lack of progress made under his direction last time.
