Triantis? I got the info on him having converted to a CB from 2 different sites and Wiki
Brewster has signed on a "free", can see him as a a Right attacking midfielder, attacking midfielder centre, support striker and provides cover for Striker, which is needed until those forwards out injured are fit which could be 4+ weeks of the season.

I'd be a tad concerned about his injury record, but I guess Eustace has done his due diligence, I would say this means Roofe will not be signed?

I had not looked at Triantis, just gone on what I've been told. A bit of internet research seems to indicate he can play defensive mid and CB as you say. Anyway if reports are true, Sunderland have turned down Derby's bid.

Reports indicate Brittain, RB from Blackburn is off to Middlesboro for £3.5 million. Shame as I do feel we are light in that position given the inability of Wilson and Nyambe to stay fit.

    • There's always Rooney for RB as well or switch to a back 3...

There is that, IF we can keep 3 fit CB's!! Ward appears to be fit played against Forest Green Rovers.

Reading reports in media today, Brewster described as a Striker and the Greek guy we haven't had a bid accepted for as a midfielder, I guess one pays ones money and takes your choice!

        • Derby have apparently made a bid for Max Johnston, RB at Red Bull Salzburg, the info is that this deal has a good chance of proceeding and he should be signed this week.

          • reports indicate that we had a 1.4M bid turned down early last week and an improved 1.6M bid similarly treated over the weekend. Would 2M seal it?

            • As regards Triantis, the DT is quoting JE as saying "when asked about Triantis, Eustace said: "That's not a name I have been speaking about with the club. I think his agent might be putting it out there, possibly." He went on to say "I know the boy. He's a good young lad. He's 21/22 and had a good loan with Hibs last year. He is a good player, but he is not somebody at the moment we are looking at."

Indeed, hence why my post had "If the reports are true" regarding him. The fact as you confirmed he is more CB than DM would also suggest he isn't priority, that and the fact the known priorities are RB (due to known fitness issues with Wilson and Nyambe and wide midfield attacking players.

Plus points in pre-season, CBY has been on fire, hope he stays fit and Rooney by accounts from fans who have seen him has played well too.

                • CBT 5 in 5. 3 of them penalties, all 3 earned through his driving into the box and getting brought down.

Rooney HAS had a good pre season. He can play RB, CH and DM so is a handy utility player. He's also very good on the ball which is a bonus. I fully expect him to make the match day squad, even when all the crocks are back.

                  • Chap called Peter O'Rourke saying Bobby Clark is currently having a medical at Pride Park. No idea as to the veracity of his claim.

I've heard the same, 20 midfielder ex Liverpool currently at RB Salzburg, interesting but a welcome addition if true.

                      • Current state of play in the max 25 senior player/loan squad

3 keepers, one of whom, O'Donnell won't be registered in the 25. Lose one of JWZ and Vickers and we trigger the emergency keeper rule.

                        11 defenders

6 midfielders if the Clark rumours are true plus we have Rooney who can play DM as well as in defence

8 forwards, Daj won't count towards the 25 and neither would our 9th forward Agbawodikeizu

That's 27 players for the 25 spots available.

Who is going to miss out? That would mean at least 2 senior players out on loan, more if we get any more players in. Logic would dictate it would be 2 of the defenders. However, this is football and, more importantly, Derby County, so logic goes out the window.

Looking at what we have in house, I think Daj is likely to go out on loan for the season. Agbawodikeizu is likely to start in the U21s despite, IMO, his having done more in pre season than Morris. Still 27 senior players. Which 2 to go? We have 3 left backs, Beck hasn't been brought in to sit on the bench, Foz van play LB, CH and LWB, Elder LB and LWB. Of the 3, I foresee Elder going out on loan. Tother side we have Nyambe, Wilson and Ward for the RB berth (there's also Gordon who did well in pre season but he's a ****ager and won't count towards the 25 and will start in the 18s/21s). Nyambe is the only proper defender of the 3 and he can also play on the right side of a back 3. That leaves Ward and Wilson. For me, Wilson gets the nod and Ward goes out on loan. If we get any more players in, other than Clark, then more will need to be either loaned out, sold or simply not registered to play for us.

                        That's me thinking aloud.

                        • Don't disagree with your analysis, but would add the following, my reading of the EFL rule book is that players don't have to be registered until after the close of the transfer window, so time for some movement out and we know 3 or 4 won't be playing until mid to late September at least, possibly longer depending upon match fitness etc.
Lars-Jørgen Salvesen possibly won't be back until the turn of the year. Nelson could also be a longer term casualty, the answer as to which two don't make the squad could lie with these two, with at least 2 supposedly coming in RB & wide attacking midfielder, a further 2 will still need to go, Ward and Jackson for me.

Ward for me is an attacking midfielder/wing back, a prime candidate to sell/loan. Eustace seems to like Elder can see him remaining as cover.

                          • Latest rumour, Derby are in for Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist, 21 who can play at CB or RB on loan.

He was at Sheff Utd last year and a fan of theirs says he is good, played a lot of games, though injured for the play offs.

                            • Bobby Clark deal completed, and Dion Sanderson too.
We certainly seem to be seeing a big change in mentality and aspiration.
