…but no Captain Fantastic and out go Archer, Carse and Dawson too, which seems a little strange.
Good luck to Bethell who looks set to stake his claim tomorrow, but many of the replacements seem to have played surprisingly little red ball cricket lately.

England’s day, just…despite the bowling dross…or at least it was until the injury to Woakes.
Felt sorry for Jamie Smith…must be exhausted, but only Gus Atkinson looks like a possible contender for the Ashes imo.

yes, its a shame that the first time there is a bowlers pitch we have our weakest pace bowling lineup out there

Ashes starting pace attack Archer, Atkinson, Carse, Stokes plus a spinner - would like to see Dawson given a bit of a run but spinners wont get much out of pitches until maybe Sydney. Bashir may be better prospect but on non helpful wickets the Aussies might just beat him out of attack

i dont think Woakes will tour again, Wood if fit will go as backup for Archer (or both maybe at Perth) after that it could be several of many. Id like to see Saqib Mahmood and Olly Stone, subject to injury and maybe John Turner

Depending on Woakes injury we may be left with 2 bowlers(excl Root), I am of course ignoring Overton!!

Unlucky, GP. Possibly the most entertaining session of an entertaining series. Mind you, at least you were spared having to wear a ‘Thorpey’ head band.

                (P.S. 5 wickets…numbers old boy. )

to be fair I always eschew those charity virtue singling events. I might have worn pink for Mcgrath instead,

So, will we get the 35 runs tomorrow before India get 4 more wickets? Will we wequire the walking wounded Woakes to wield the willow?

Can’t help thinking it’d be all done and dusted if Brook hadn’t played such a daft shot, which is a pity because it came at the end of his match changing, potentially series winning innings.
Great series and great Test whatever happens, but suspect a lot rests on Jamie Smith’s shoulders, and hopefully not Woakes’ remaining one, tomorrow.

Makes one realize the importance of Washington Sundars 10th wicket stand with himself....

Daft shots have become endemic for England's batters in this series, now Smith's out so India faves!

Disappointed in Smith. He’s quality but looked like a tailender this morning.

Bug…., I mean, well done India. Brilliant series. Unlucky Atkinson. Great courage from Woakes. Test cricket is alive and well. Siraj MOTS?

Unfortunate match outcome but India deserved a share of the series, having often been the better team
