Aye Haiti is must win, win that, it's not impossible with 8/12 third teams going through that one decent win and two narrow defeats could get us through. How weird would that be after all the previous hard luck stories we ended up getting through a group stage just beating Haiti. Beat Haiti, then we have two stabs at getting a point at least v Morrocco and Brazil. Just remembered when I was having my rant about FIFA, Infantino overturning Ronaldo's 2 match ban because so he is free to play because he was Ronaldo.

I am tempting fate but Brazil and Morocco hate playing against defence minded teams and its the one area that Clarke excels in.Worse case scenario is we lose game 2 and 3 but only narrowly best case is getting another point or even 3 and getting 2nd,unlikely but not impossible.Originally posted by JUSTaway View PostAye Haiti is must win, win that, it's not impossible with 8/12 third teams going through that one decent win and two narrow defeats could get us through. Really looking forward to it but I’m old enough to remember Scotland v Zaire in 1974. Probably the best Scotland team ever, unbeaten in 3 games including Brazil but we still ended up coming home after 3 games. I hope history doesn’t repeat itself.Originally posted by JamesMcClean View Post100% GB. It may be just our first match but make no mistake the Haiti game is a must win given the next two matches thereafter. Even a draw and I think we’re rubber ducked with little chance of progressing beyond the groups.

Funniest thing about that WC still has to be the Zaire boy running out the wall at a Brazil free kick to launch the ball up the park.Originally posted by Kdyteejay2 View PostReally looking forward to it but I’m old enough to remember Scotland v Zaire in 1974. More to that story than meets the eye though, they were under a dictatorship and had been threatened and had money withheld so the story goes that the player did that out of protest.Originally posted by JamesMcClean View PostFunniest thing about that WC still has to be the Zaire boy running out the wall at a Brazil free kick to launch the ball up the park.

I find modern football really difficult to enjoy these days with VAR, why is it after all this time officials haven't cottoned on to players deliberately staying down to just draw attention of VAR for an innocuous incident to try get a red as that mexican player did for the second south African red card. Totally innocuous incident, not even worth a booking, yet that guy will get done for violent conduct and miss rest of world cup, and the mexican gets away with cheating. Var just encourages cheating and diving.

I see C Republic scored from a long throw, straight out of the Goodwin coaching manual! strange how these things come in and out of vogue. I imagine England who have always relied heavy on set pieces will lean even more heavily on the arsenal set piece FC success of season just past.

Pretty sure the last world cup or the 2018 one they scored the least amount of goals from open play in the whole tournament bar one team. They're pish and rely on set pieces for years.Originally posted by JUSTaway View PostI see C Republic scored from a long throw, straight out of the Goodwin coaching manual! strange how these things come in and out of vogue.
