Well I suppose that we agree is something. Fact is, as you say, individually there's not much to be done, but collectively? Bankrupting Tesla by dumping stock and either selling or not buying Skums cars? Very possible. Mass movements either under a political party banner or perhaps more telling, simply the people coming together to oppose autocracy and technocratic dictatorship, we can but hope.Originally posted by hopelesslyoptimistic View PostWTF - again an occasion where we agree.
PS the please don?t reference was simply everyone gets what you are saying irrespective of whether they agree but there ain?t an awful lot any of us can do about it so suspect most would like to concentrate on Leeds and the run in
The chimp needs to be taught that the phrase "of the people, by the people, for the people" still has meaning and it doesn't refer to those who have their tongues furthest up the chimps a55hole.

It’s far more important than the end of the world.
Maybe the Rev will even get his leg over the Aldi check out counter.

Not wanting to dull the enthusiasm, really and honestly, for what the football goes may deliver, but Shankly wasn't correct, football isn't life or death, the future of Ukraine and the rest of Europe (including these little offshore rocks) is, as per the thread title.Originally posted by Billyni View PostI vote we concentrate on the run in.

Acknowledgement of a wrong isn't anywhere near enough, and from the days of the founding fathers that has been true.Originally posted by hopelesslyoptimistic View PostWTF - again an occasion where we agree.

Resistance against oppression, domestic or foreign, is a fundamental REQUIREMENT of all those who see the people's interests being made subservient to the state. Is here anything more blatant to the states oppression of the people than the chimps delegation of responsibility to the Skum and his juvenile cohorts?

[QUOTE=Monaco_Totty;40680834]Cheers WS, appreciated. 👍
You gotta smile, to make sure the world smiles with you.
Same from me keep punching the lows as the highs are worth it.
Just don't make the kid support Leeds if you don't want them to get grumpy and miserable like us

Last 25 years here have so many examples of shocking behaviour that it seems a little hard to throw stones when our own house is made of glass.Originally posted by WTF11 View PostAcknowledgement of a wrong isn't anywhere near enough, and from the days of the founding fathers that has been true.

Iraq War
Blair
Brown
Campbell and the dead scientist
Expenses scandal
Covid
Whether your agree with the principle or not how Brexit happened
Johnson
Truss
Starmer
Reeves
Farage
Rotherham grooming scandal
Miliband (how can you be a lapsed Leeds fan - ffs)
HS2
Successful governments of all persuasions not taking decision to secure energy supply and replace power stations
An unwillingness to tackle the adult social care and health iceberg
The Scottish lot
The Welsh lot
The list could go on and on and on and on - many find Trump inappropriate and far worse but he isn?t exactly unique in that when you look closer to home or beyond
There is starting to be a unifying reaction to Trump too - look at what Mark Carney is doing
Maybe the world will ask the US to pay up for the true cost of its folly in Iraq and for funding the gain of function research which most now believe to COVID
What is sad is that when we were younger there was much more of a divide between left and right and their politics but both sides could still debate like adults and treat each other with respect - today - not so much.

All of the matters you refer to are/were bad, that much is without doubt. However none threatened the world in the way that the current US "administration" is. Even if the COVID conspiracy theorists are correct, the virus was an accidental by-product, not the wanton destruction of livelihoods, international relationships forged over hundreds of years and the likely annexation of a modern, 20th century European nation by a totalitarian anti-democratic despot, etc etc etc, all because the chimp has an ego that can never be satisfied and nowhere near the intellectual capability required to handle the responsibility it now has. It IS unique in having the ability and the intent to use what the American electorate foolishly gave it, the White House.Last edited by WTF11; 28-03-2025, 04:37 PM.

Not trying to compare them or score them just a general comment on how useless all of them can be and that then removes to a large degree the validity of criticism that would otherwise be reasonable and thus why it is futile getting so worked up about it - any hooooo to misquote DanielOriginally posted by WTF11 View PostI knew agreement couldn't last long.

Again, we agree on the generally useless nature of a great many of the supposedly great and good. Where we differ is not just on the need, but the duty to criticise and hold them ALL to account. Without such, chimps like the one currently infesting the White House will run free and unopposed (as they do in Russia, North Korea and other dictatorships), we have monumentally horrific evidence of what that can lead to.Originally posted by hopelesslyoptimistic View PostNot trying to compare them or score them just a general comment on how useless all of them can be and that then removes to a large degree the validity of criticism that would otherwise be reasonable and thus why it is futile getting so worked up about it - any hooooo to misquote Daniel
Government should fear it's electorate, not the other way round.
