There's always going to be speculation - it's human nature. Apart from normal people being genuinely curious, some less well intentioned people will fill any gaps with malicious rumours designed to create chaos.

They're damned if they do and dawned if they don't to be honest. Yes, they've made a rod for their own back in the future, but had they just said "a ''XX-year old man is in custody" yesterday they would probably be dealing with riots in the short term.

It appears a 53 year old man as been arrested for dangerous driving and under the influence of drugs and attempted murder.

We are talking about the hot favourite to be the next PM. He should be asked at every opportunity about why he chose to disseminate misinformation from such dubious sources about such a sensitive matter. And whether someone who does that is fit to hold any sort of political office.

Surely Nigel is the future. He's said he'll raise the tax threshold to 20K, he'll reintroduce the winter fuel payments, and he'll introduce more generous tax breaks for married people and scrap the two-child benefit limit. What could possibly go wrong?

He?s willing to say absolutely anything for money and or power. Including Up The Ra.

Let?s just hope the media start at least offering some scrutiny to their dodgy numbers.

IIRC there was a report published on the police handing of the Southport case that concluded that it was a mistake to withheld information about the attacker, that it only encouraged the rumour mill and helped to inflame the situation and in future they need to be more transparent with what they know. So you should expect a full description in future - with cases of this nature. It's not always going to be immediately apparent what religion they are though.

Will be interesting to see if they arrest and charge the guy who broke the driver's window, that action may well have escalated the situation. That's not to excuse the driver. His was apparently the only car that attempted to get through the area via that route and expect people to move out of the way. He is stationary at one point before taking off into the more populated stretch, long enough for his door to be opened, so I'd be really shocked if he turned up with the intention of killing and/or injuring people, but he's mighty fortunate to not be facing man slaughter charges.

It was very fortunate that no one died, including the driver. I wouldn't want to have driven into a load of slightly merry football fans, especially with what has happened elsewhere, with an intent by certain people to cause carnage at public events.

Yes speculation is normal. But we are not just talking about Dave down the pub here. We are talking about the hot favourite to be the next PM. Aside from him all the usual suspects on the far right were falling over themselves yesterday to cause trouble over the Liverpool incident even in the short time before the police said what the background of the suspect was. As you say the police cant win.

1p on income tax would probably cover it or, we could just stop paying for migrants to stay in hotels and buying them phones and driving lessons and having doctors on tap to pay for it which is what I think you're driving at?

I doubt very much Farage will increase income tax. All of the people in his orbit and who he admires reduce taxes a tiny bit for normal people and a huge amount for very wealthy people. Something like a 15% flat tax regardless of income maybe with an increase in minimum threshold.

Trying to avoid buildings with humans inside being set on fire is a fairly sensible agenda for the police, isn't it?

If not using a pseudonym then probably yes.

There are two kinds of people who do this, those who are careless and do stuff as a knee jerk reaction (Lucy Connolly) and those who genuinely, want to cause mischief, the latter you will never be stopped.

I just heard a 'stat' that we are currently taxed at the highest level since the end of the WWII. Something has to give in order to pay for the services required by the burgeoning population, many of whom not only pay no taxes but are a direct drain, on the public purse.

One obvious saving and a future government has to be impervious to any criticism that flows from it, would be to put migrants in camps like they are in many other places, here in Cyprus they are. Illegal migrants and their supporters, have to be stopped from calling the tune on this, it's costing 15 billion per year. Genuine asylum seekers would be grateful of any kind of protection, many of them live in makeshift camps anyway on the coast in France until they can cross as they don't want to enter the asylum system there.
