What Starmer & silverback have done to the reputation of the UK will take years to recover from, if it can recover at all.Years ago i worked about 200 mile west of Tehran, the people were great, just normal, getting on with their lives, come the collapse of the Shah and the imlementation of these mad mullahs things changed, the people changed, the whole country changed, just like GB is in the throes of doing right now, gutless leadership that jumps on the next bus that comes along, that's what we have.

Iran warns it will target UK, US and France bases in region if they help defend IsraelOriginally posted by Observerpie View PostI see that our leadership couldn't be trusted with advance information about the Israeli strikes.
Prior to this, there were mutterings in Cyprus amongst the general public, about potential attacks on the Island bases because of Middle Eastern involvement. Not sure the UK would be wise to make this come true, we are in range of Iranian, ballistic missiles and pressure could be heaped on, to close the bases.
We only live c20 miles from RAF Akrotiri from where UK/US assaults are launched and munitions supplies get routed to Israel.

Why should this or any, UK government, put it's own people and those of Cyprus, at risk by supporting Israel? Surely, they have enough support from the US and sufficient armourments in their own right?
In the last hour or so, Iranian state media has reported that Iran has warned the UK not to help Israel stop its strikes on the country.
They say that Iran will target ships and bases belonging to the UK, US and France, if they defend Israel against Iranian drones or missiles.
Downing Street aren’t responding to those comments, but as of this morning it’s understood the UK has not taken part in any military action, including efforts to defend Israel against those strikes.
I was told yesterday that there’d been no request from Israel to the UK for that type of assistance.
Government sources haven’t been confirming this morning whether that’s still the case.
When Iran has targeted Israel with drones in the past, the UK has sent RAF Typhoon jets from Cyprus to shoot them down.Last edited by Med Pie; 14-06-2025, 12:03 PM.

Maybe because the British, under the role of the UN protected Cyprus from being a Turkish/ Greek bloodbath in the 60's my British mates were killed in the mountains between Kyrinia & Nicosia trying to keep the peace between two warring countries.Originally posted by Med Pie View PostWhy should this or any, UK government, put it's own people and those of Cyprus, at risk by supporting Israel? Turkey invaded Cyprus in 74! It was a done deal with the USA and NATO. The border was already drawn up for the Turks, this far and no further. The reason, Cyprus was going to withdraw permission for any British or USA air bases on the island but with the invasion obviously this changed. It's funny how the issue never gets mentioned within the EU and USA both advocates of freedom and freewill..!xOriginally posted by The Dug Out View PostMaybe because the British, under the role of the UN protected Cyprus from being a Turkish/ Greek bloodbath in the 60's my British mates were killed in the mountains between Kyrinia & Nicosia trying to keep the peace between two warring countries.

I'm, of the right and still do not support what Israel is allowed to get away with and certainly have compassion for the Palestinian people. What HAMAS did was abominable but what Israel has and is continuing to do, is criminal in the extreme.Originally posted by The Dug Out View PostCompletely wrong! go back to your far left, pro palestine, flag waving "protests" and stop spreading propaganda that you know nothing about.
I was cursing yesterday to myself as I watched a news article about the damage done in Israel by an Iranian missile yet the Israelis have wrought havoc and devastation in so many places, I find it hard to see them as victims the way they would have us do.
If the Yanks really wanted to stop Israel attacking Iran, they should cut of the munitions supplies, Israel still has far more than it needs for 'self defence'.

'We've already been moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support across the region," Sir Keir told reporters.
Why do we need to 'support' Israel? They've got more than enough to defend their country having kicked the hornets nest and our PM should not get us further, dragged in.

The 'problem' is that it's taken so much pressure and for the governments approval ratings to be at levels rarely seen, for the PM to do the right thing. When the truth finally comes out, this could have very serious, public order consequences and IMHO, this has long been realised and it's probably why it was resisted for so long.Originally posted by PedroTheFisherman66 View PostIsn't that what they the people wanted.? Which point was wrong..!.?..ps I have no interest in Palestinian flag waving. My concern is solely about the Turks stealing half the island of Cyprus, which was aided and abetted by NATO & USA.xOriginally posted by The Dug Out View PostCompletely wrong! go back to your far left, pro palestine, flag waving "protests" and stop spreading propaganda that you know nothing about.Last edited by PedroTheFisherman66; 15-06-2025, 08:19 AM.
