At last people seem to be waking up to the fact that we are being run by a corrupt bunch of liars and cheats. Johnson has surrounded himself with people who are happy to lie and cheat on his behalf, so it will be up to the Tory backbenchers to remove him.
To emphasise what an utter farce this is, it now seems the bloke appointed to lead the Christmas party investigation is facing calls to be removed because it's emerged that Christmas parties were held in his department. If all of this was submitted as a script for 'Yes Minister', it would be rejected on the grounds of being too far-fetched!

If it's true that he held a party, then to me this is the worst case (no pun intended). He should have immediately said he couldn't do it and why. BBC are reporting that invites were sent titled 'Christmas Party'. Statement expected from Downing Street.Originally posted by Elite_Pie View PostAt last people seem to be waking up to the fact that we are being run by a corrupt bunch of liars and cheats. What a joke this all is. When asked why BJ can be trusted, Oliver Dowden said because he got Brexit done! Add to that the vaccine rollout and the financial packages through Covid.
If there were just 1 or 2 parties last year I am pretty sure they would be forgotten. But it seems that it was the accepted thing.

So, "The UK's top civil servant has stepped aside from his role leading an inquiry into Downing Street lockdown parties, after it emerged an event was held in his own office". This is now way beyond surreal. The Tory cabinet touted him as the best person to lead this inquiry because he was paragon of virtue. He was so, so honest and respected that there was nobody better.Originally posted by magpie_mania View PostIf it's true that he held a party, then to me this is the worst case (no pun intended). Only one option left now. This is so serious it should go to the very top. Boris Johnson should head the inquiry!

The very top is the Queen. Unfortunately in the absence of capital punishment in this country she will not be allowed to proclaim "off with their heads".Originally posted by Elite_Pie View PostSo, "The UK's top civil servant has stepped aside from his role leading an inquiry into Downing Street lockdown parties, after it emerged an event was held in his own office". BoJo's mumblings about "getting it" have merely shown that he doesn't get it. The right wing Shropshire voters get it and as Swale often says "Final Warning" (again and again).

He realises that people aren't happy but doesn't admit that it's him they aren't happy with.

I'm not much of a royalist so I forgot about her. Even though I don't like the idea of a Royal Family in principle, she comes across as a decent and honest person who has performed her role with dignity. If the choice was her or Boris, she would win hands down. Things are so bad that if the choice was Prince Andrew or Boris, I would have to sit on the fence.Originally posted by Old_pie View PostThe very top is the Queen.
What really annoys me is that Simon Case was put forward as the best person to lead the inquiry because he was morally beyond reproach. He was the person who would deliver an honest verdict on what actually happened. But he took on this role as the saintly judge in the full knowledge that he or his department had broken the rules. He was in it with the rest of them and only 'stepped aside' when he was caught out. There can be no better example of how deeply entrenched in the gutter this government is. We deserve so much better.
I don't envy Sue Gray, the person who has replaced him. Apparently she is "the second permanent secretary at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities". Or is she just the highest ranked in the cesspit who can absolutely say she has no skeletons in the cupboard? Seeing as I doubt there is anyone in the country with a double figure IQ who thinks that these parties didn't really happen, she either tells the truth and ends her Tory party career, or she joins the liars and cheats.

I reckon that the outcome will be that the parties happened but Boris wasn't aware so thought no rules were broken. Regarding the quiz, he thought everyone was on Zoom apart from the two in his office who were in a bubble.Originally posted by Elite_Pie View PostI'm not much of a royalist so I forgot about her. Press conference in the no 10 rose garden coming up.

I've thought exactly the same from a very early stage. The outcome will be that 'some gatherings didn't fully comply with the rules, but the Prime Minister was unaware. Boris acted in good faith, and is utterly appalled at the way he was misled'.Originally posted by magpie_mania View PostI reckon that the outcome will be that the parties happened but Boris wasn't aware so thought no rules were broken.
For that to work, the public have to believe that Boris was completely unaware of what was happening in his own house. I realise that number 10 isn't your usual 'two up two down' property, but even Dominic Cummings testing his eyesight is more plausible.

With Cummings and his cronies lurking in the background ready to release another damaging leak. It's going to be interesting.Originally posted by magpie_mania View PostI reckon that the outcome will be that the parties happened but Boris wasn't aware so thought no rules were broken.
