Would have been ideal competition for Bass but it seems like he's fallen out of love with football

Not at 37. I'd like to think the idea goalies can still play while pushing 40 is long gone.

Only a year older than Slocombe and I think we'd all agree Bart beats Slocombe hands down

So? He’s under contract and coming to the end of his run. No big issue to have a 36year old as one of 3 keepers, but we shouldn’t be in the business of bringing in even older goalkeepers

                Not particularly, no.
Full disclosure, as an England fan I really have it in for old goalkeepers.
After seeing a midget outjump our 36 year-old No.1 in 1986, Brehme's deflected lob beat the same 40 year-old in 1990, and Ronaldinho float a lob over our 38 year-old keeper in 2002, I've been firmly against old keepers. I reckon the agility needed to perform at the professional level should mean there's less chance for a keeper to extend beyond 35 than outfield players.

I blame Dino Zoff in 1982. Him playing in that Italy team spread the misnomer that goalies could last til 40, forgetting he was playing behind Bergomi, Scirea, Gentile, Cabrini and Tardelli.
Slocs will go at the end of this season, aged 36, will probably retire and go into coaching. That's the way it should be IMO.

Did we replace our Goalkeeping Coach? I think Slocombe would make a good coach. He communicates well and seems to be a good pro. Maybe that's why he stayed and Stone was transfer listed?

Steve Collis is the new goalkeeping coach:

                            • Watching Curzon Ashton v S****horpe, with Cal Roberts and Jimmy Spencer sharing the pitch on opposing sides.

It may just be nostalgia but I seem to remember Spencer being some player for notts in the half season he got before his injury.

I thought Jimmy Spencer was a good traditional target man who held the ball up very well and was capable of being a good league two/one striker. His record was decent at the end of the 13/14 season when he came in from memory. I also think that he would have given much more had he not suffered the knee ligament injury he did away at Arnold Town in pre-season which kept him out for most of the 14/15 season.
