Might be something like apple devices using a wider unicode set, would make sense to me. I am on PC/windows here. You apple?

So basically, my PC sends the oldest ASCII ' or " symbols when I type, but a different machine is using more stylsed newer ones, and this website's font doesnt understand the new symbols so shows them as ?

If it showed them as boxes I would've figured it out a lot faster but this font must be mega old heh

The only symbol on my keyboard which gets corrupted is the Pound Sterling sign which becomes a question mark.

    • Who would have predicted President Rapist and Elon Ketamine falling out so publicly?

Nearly as much fun as Reform ltd arguing about burkas.

        • Interesting to see what happens in the Maga / conservative podcast sphere now. Also interesting to see who Musk intends to sell cars to now that he's persona non grata with pretty much everyone, but he hasn't been *ahem* thinking clearly for while now.

It's also been known for a while that Trump's name was in the flight logs to the island. At least I think it has as I remember Shane Gillis (Trump leaning comedian) joking about it on his podcast ages ago "yeah but he didn't do anything while he was there, he just stood by the vending machine chatting to the staff".

I wonder if Musk will hang on to his honorary genius status in the podcast-sphere, or will it become a 'with me or against me' situation where you alienate Trump by having Musk on. I remember Bret Weinstein on Joe Rogan describing how he met with Musk and spoke to him about having his Twitter account downgraded, then messaged him after the meeting and got no reply and got instantly blocked ahah. Then he cringily said how lucky he was to have been gifted time with the emperor-genius in the first place and no biggie about getting blocked. This cultish behaviour will surely stop if he becomes politically irrelevant and his businesses start to suffer.

I think Musk is right about the bill, but he's got the hard task of explaining why he only figured that out once he was out of the inner circle. He's also got the problem that it almost doesn't matter what dirt he's got on Trump - good luck getting anywhere in a mud slinging match with Teflon Don. There's enough dirt out there already on Trump to sink 50 presidents, but he is Orange Jesus to 33% of Americans. It can be serious, it can be true, and not touch him at all.

Musk is also vulnerable to Trump's vindictive streak. His car business survives on rinse and repeat false promises of technological breakthroughs "in the next year" every year, and government EV subsidies. His rocket business depends on government contracts. It's not so much that Trump can take those contracts away, it's that he can give them to another company who will become a serious competitor.

Anyway, all very entertaining. I thought last week's offering of Musk in a Dogefather t shirt and baseball cap, off his face on goodness knows what in the Oval Office, riffing on how nice Trump's newly installed 24 carat gold eagle is in between talking about ripping up government departments to cut down on unnecessary waste was peak entertainment, but I was wrong!

          • I am reminded of a scene early on in The Hobbit, where the trolls are insulting the crap out of each other and tolkein comes in as narrator and says something like "it continued like that for a while; the trolls saying all sorts of totally true and appropriate things to each other"

I would like to say it will be vaguely interesting to see how the absolute puckwits who support these guys divide up their support now, but it won't.

              !
Steve Bannon has called on Trump to deport Musk and from what Ive read from one or two decentish sources he might well be able to do it.

Whether Musk thinks he can might decide whether he goes full nuclear with the nasty stuff he no doubt has on Trump.

Yeah didnt he go to work in the USA on a student visa or something? I suppose there are people being detained / deported for less by this administration.

I dont think Musk or anyone can touch Trump to be honest. Imagine the worst thing you can think of being made public with incontrovertible evidence - Trump would be able to ride it out.

                • I can't really enjoy it - the publicity and attention alone is right up there at the top of their agendas.
I will always think that the row with Comey was staged in 2017 to mask the enormous solid the FBI did for Orangeboy in 2016.

And I don't rule it out this time. Apart from the publicity, it might suit both of their agendas in the long-term. Anyway, we still have rule by billionaires for billionaires so it's just a distraction anyway.

Only that would be something of a game changer, although haven't we gone beyond the rubicon many times already?
The slur itself is only one in a long line for an already convicted felon. Some of his supporters aren't phased by the idea of him having *** with underage girls, quite the opposite, they are that sick.

                      • It really is a shocking pity that the Democrats made such a dog sh1t show of their term it left the American people with no choice.

I think I have been quite clear and consistent in all such matters. I have always maintained that I believe people should have the right choose for themselves. If they feel that they are really Russians trapped inside Ukrainian bodies, or Yankees trapped inside Canadians, etc., then let them be Russians and Americans respectively. Is that not the liberal order of the day, to allow people to self identify? What the hell skin is it off our backs if Albertans prefer to be Americans? Ought we to beat them into submission if they think they would be better off under a different flag?

It would be like the people of the UK choosing Brexit in a nation wide referendum, and then the revolving door government of the day ignoring the will of the people by signing agreements that effectively wipes out what the people chose.

And yet that is consistently what the west does. We claim to be democracies, and yet whenever the peoples vote yields a result that our masters do not like, they use whatever means necessary to cancel the results. Why should I kill or die to protect and coddle such lunacy?
If they are Russians trapped in Ukrainian bodies then go live in Russia then everyone would be happy.

Agree! They also managed to pick candidates (Clinton, Biden, Biden/Harris) who the Republicans would have a chance against. If we can see it why can't they? Biden's p!$$!ng about* has delivered the free world into an unhinged president who may well be guilty of unimaginable crimes. [* - and if he has done wrong his rep should be shredded as well.]

I don?t know how some of them can function normally from day to day.
