I don't think we can take this board as representative of the fan base. I would be quite happy to take Williams back. He would have been a fool not to give Swansea a go when they came knocking.Originally posted by mozza27 View PostWe just got rid of Maynard who massively divided the fanbase. Based on this thread, Williams would do the same. Based on that, I don't believe the brothers will choose that path right now.
It also likely that the swift sacking of Maynard will lead to a longer search, so don't expect an outcome soon.
Was it a swift sacking though? If it was based on the run in, that's at least a couple of months. Not sure what would have happened had we somehow squeezed through the play-offs. The comments on the statement would still have been correct about performances and results.

I think it's more he wanted out of Swansea. Look at his recent interview in the Football League Paper, basically was sold a tale by the chairman who was having a power battle with other board members who didn't want him. Montague I think may also come a cropper there as well by the sounds of itOriginally posted by HeroPie1862 View PostI don't really care that he left for Swansea, the thing I made a point of is that in under a year he did try to leave for WBA after joining them, it's not a great look.

I didn't know that, and if that's the case then fair play to him.Originally posted by Chicken Balti Pie View PostI think it's more he wanted out of Swansea. Its a no from me. As much as I hate the fact that every Notts corner doesn't currently get past the first man (solution, which is not rocket surgery, is to either change the corner taker or put a Notts player on the front post to flick on) I wouldn't be able to cope with watching every corner we have being a short corner ultimately ending up back at our goalkeeper again.
As much as we have lots to thank LW for in getting us back in the football league, I do recall quite a few of us fans disappointed in the style of football being played at the end of his tenure and the mistakes being made by the players on a weekly basis. Something that LW should have sorted out, but didn't, through training and player coaching.

It will be a fairly (very?) small market, subject to change with the odd ?10/20 that gets thrown on, but I'm a little concerned that someone has specifically requested BetVictor that Joao Alves to be added to the list. Let's hope it's one of the Reedtz have done it to throw people off the scent, eh.Originally posted by jacobncfc View PostThis happens every time, and somehow people still fall for it. It's weird isn't it... why are managers expected to show endless "loyalty" to their club when the first whiff of failure they'll be unceremoniously dumped?Originally posted by cher1 View PostDo some football supporters never leave a job for promotion or a pay rise? Managers and players are just employees, we can't project supporters' emotions on to them.
I'd welcome him back.
All the stuff about Allardyce, people should maybe think they've only ever heard one person's version of events. Doesnt mean it's the whole truth....
Not to mention getting a new job higher up the pyramid while you're on contract means your club gets a payout, generally, instead of having to pay you out when they sack you.
In my career I mostly advanced by changing jobs/organisations, it's only a fast growing company that usually has room for promotions within. Unless you're willing to wait years? Maybe everyone on this board worked a different industry...

Nottingham is a chit hole to be fair.Originally posted by the_anticlough View PostYeah, if he lives in Swansea, and distance is an issue for him, he should seek employment in the Swansea area
It's not too much to ask that the manager of the great Notts County is prepared to live in the Nottingham area

I don't often agree with you Durham but on this occasion.....Originally posted by durhampie View PostI would suggest the Bros have already earmarked the person to take over, and it was probably a done deal weeks ago. Thats why the club didnt add to the coaching staff... Williams will not be that man.

I would happily take Williams back. Who in his position wouldnt have left last season, I suspect his wages would have more than doubled. I dont get all the talk about being in decline we had just played both Doncaster and Crawley I believe it was off the park in back-to-back home games.
From memory after securing promotion there was all the talk of a new defender coming in and it seemed we were throwing all our eggs in one basket for Debrah then his medical broke down and LW was left with a defence that he and the club knew needed strengthening as no other option was identified. Perhaps the lack of defensive recruitment by RM was more at fault than LW being in decline.

I wouldn't have thought so as i doubt many of our players live in Nottingham anyway. It's probably a good thing that Nottingham is central and easy to get to. But really, if it was a choice between Nottingham and Swansea, I know which i'd choose! The city depresses the shizzle out of me when i come back to see family.Originally posted by the_anticlough View PostStrong stuff KC, so do you think the city is working against us in recruiting and keeping players and managers?
To be honest most cities are in decline, not just Notts.

Compared to the bohemian utopias that are Grimsby, Accrington, Barrow, Morecambe, Burslem, Chesterfield, Doncaster.....?Originally posted by the_anticlough View PostStrong stuff KC, so do you think the city is working against us in recruiting and keeping players and managers?
Nottingham has more than its share of deprived areas, but if you are a footballer who can afford to live in a relatively affluent area, then in terms of services, amenities, shopping, nightlife, the city knocks spots off most of League 1 and League 2 towns.
