There may well be still 6 weeks of the window left pal, however, in the meantime while we dither with these two, other players that may well have fitted our needs are getting snapped up. For me it would be sign by next Friday or the deal's off the table then see how they react.Originally posted by caytonmiller View PostStill 6 weeks of the window so no rush though I wouldn't go e them the option. It doesn't take 6 weeks to make your mind up if the club fits or not.
If the player is comfortable and the wage offered is descent then it's a yes or no. I hate this. "Well I will talk to other clubs and if they don't offer more I will be back".
Imagine Doris being offered Yorkshire tea and as much hot water as she needs then her saying.
I'm off to Costa and see if they offer Pg tips. If not hasta la vista (continental Doris)

I cant see where we are dithering on this. The offers have been made so it is up to them whether to say yes or not. Quite decisive for us compared to previous years.Originally posted by Brin View PostThere may well be still 6 weeks of the window left pal, however, in the meantime while we dither with these two, other players that may well have fitted our needs are getting snapped up. Same would apply to other more established players, we can make offers and hope we dont have to overpay to land the fish

Grist, but we are dithering. IF these two take it to the wire and then say no and sign elsewhere, that is precious lost time where WE could have looked elsewhere had we been given earlier notice they weren't signing. We need an answer by the end of next week imo.Originally posted by Grist_To_The_Mill View PostI cant see where we are dithering on this. So really it?s them( and their agents) doing the dithering, waiting and hoping for a better offer, not RUFC doing the ditheringOriginally posted by Brin View PostGrist, but we are dithering. Yip, seems fair that. Especially when we've paid for their Portugal trip and got them reasonably fit and now they dithering.....(looking for more money)Originally posted by Brin View PostCorrect pal. That's why I said the club should call them out end of next week, we have slots to fill asap.

I gave them a deadline of 6pm yesterday but nobody took any notice of itOriginally posted by KerrAvon View PostDo we know that they haven't been given a deadline, or is that just an assumption?
If they end up with us after a lengthy delay then it would be begrudgingly as they hadn't got a better deal elsewhere.

Yes it won’t go down well with Hammy and coaching staff, other players and us fans, we need commitment ! It might not end well ?Originally posted by CAMiller View PostI gave them a deadline of 6pm yesterday but nobody took any notice of it

If I was Hammy, I?d still be looking at other players, and talking to them, and if a player just as good was keen to come I?d tell the triallist ?sorry, too late, we?ve got someone else now?. Maybe that?s what he is doing? I don?t know.

beau, they are most likely are looking at others and I totally agree with what you've put.Originally posted by Beaufighter View PostIf I was Hammy, I?d still be looking at other players, and talking to them, and if a player just as good was keen to come I?d tell the triallist ?sorry, too late, we?ve got someone else now?. The crux of the matter is the time and effort the club have already put into these two yet they are stalling, unless the Yearwood story is true and that just leaves Benson. What a stink it would cause if he re signed for Barnsley and yes, dafter things have happened in football!
