    Pre port vale

Oh how I wish they would have beaten chelsea. Beware the backlash lads.
They are more likely to be deflated now and knowing they are going down, but a bounce back could happen.

We need a fresh approach to this one, up and at them from the off. Do not give them a second to think.
And we won?t have industrious gore either.

Our goal difference lets us down even if we get all three points tonight.

Both Port Vale and Rotherham United kicked off the 2025/26 season celebrating a milestone in their history and it's quiet ironic that both clubs would be facing relegation as the season draws to an end. Below takes a look at how Rotherham Utd have competed in each tier of the Football League in the past 100 years and 10 months.

          League - Seasons - Played - Won - Drawn - Lost - For - Against
          Championship/Tier 2: S: 30, P: 1,304, W: 398, D: 329, L: 577, F: 1,793, A: 2,165.
          League One/Tier 3: S: 32, P: 1,438, W: 529, D: 383, L: 526, F: 1,825, A: 1,841.
          League Two/Tier 4: S: 13, P: 594, W: 263, D: 167, L:164, F: 884, A: 667.
          Third Division North: S: 19, P: 800, W: 336, D: 158, L: 306, F: 1,435 A: 1,371.

Since the 1951/52 season (75 seasons) the average finishing position in the Football League pyramid works out at 52. In todays Football League structure, 50 is equilavant to 6th position in League One. Across 94 seasons (1925-2026) the club historically sits at 53rd place.
To see a clearer visual picture of the above figures and with any basic knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets, putting those WDL figures into a pie chart for each tier shows a much clearer picture of the level of football over the past 75 seasons.

I'm expecting an ugly game of football tonight, partly due to the state of the pitch (I hear it's a mess) and Lee Clark hinted at such in his pre match.

In fact, PV played Huddersfield a few weeks ago and the sky commentator described it as one of the worst games he'd ever seen.

Anyway, enjoy the game everyone 🤣

Been there when Jonny Fantham played for us.

Tonight can't play like Saturday starting with 4 forwards. Need 3 in midfield with Gore suspended will have to be:

                      Kelly
                      Cover Benson
