In that game I tried slave which was not recognised due to the cancel culture cart and horses.. so I lost interest in that game…..I get your theory but i guess it’s do people just want to complete it or get it the lowest number of go”s…abit like millers do they talk as they just want promotion or to be champions…Originally posted by CAMiller View PostTake the other day for example when the word was SHAKE and say by chance your 1st guess was SHADE. You'd know 1,2,3 and 5 were right, would have 5 guesses left and could go with SHAKE, SHALE, SHAME, SHAPE, SHARE, SHAVE so in essence wouldn't be guaranteed to get the answer. However if you went with MILKY and VIPER as your 2nd and 3rd guess you'd cover all the permutations and be guaranteed get it in either 3 or 4.
Not that it matters how many you do it in according to Brin

I've been doing Wordl for about 10 days now and have to say I have mixed feelings about it. Yes, there is some use made of the 'little grey cells' but too often for me it comes down to luck - both in the initial word selected and the choices one can make when substituting. There is no pattern of improvement that you can work towards; everyday it's fairly random
I'll carry on for a bit longer but I may well stop and refocus on sudoku/crosswords to stave of the brain-rust that may be coming!
I also enjoy the Spelling Bee in the New York Times which is an excellent mental work-out. (NYT online subscription at $2 per month for the first year is great value.)
