    ‘His own inadequacies’...what’s that meant to mean Rom? The guy is gay...not inadequate.

    Personally I think the problem would be enforcing the law. Unfortunately people in large groups can behave differently but what are the police/stewards meant to do to stop a large group within an even larger group from chanting offensively without exacerbating the situation?

    Over the years I’m sure we’ve all heard all sorts of chants which most decent people would describe as offensive.
    Racist ones, chants about Munich, about Hillsborough, anti Catholic/Protestant chants, the Harry Roberts one and ones about individuals personal problems etc...e.g. Stan Collymore. Can’t say I’ve heard many homophobic ones but I think they’re all pretty vile and just another example of how stupid people can have their behaviour changed when they become part of the ‘mob mentality’.

    Don’t blame ‘Alfie’ at all for seeking this change to the law but whether it would be enforceable or not is a different matter.
