Oh inadequacies (for want of a better word) refers to him whining about the stress he felt as a player and the wife leaving him.

I don't get it. He never came out, nobody accused him of being gay or targetted him due to that. Nobody knew. So why all the fuss?

And the wife leaving him nearly ending in suicide. While I don't want such a thing to occur, then again what did he want his wife to do? Thank him?

What we see time and again, is gays blaming others for their predicament. They want their whole experience to be cheered and upon coming out, it's like Christmas, New Years etc rolled into 1. You make a lifestyle choice, good for you.
Why must we celebrate/acknowledge/praise you?

And any single taunt or remark in jest? God help us. All sorts of accusations of meaness, homophobia and a sustained period of chest thumping coupled with their life struggles will follow.

As for chanting, we had a thread some time back. I don't think a bit of of harmless teasing is bad. Like does your boyfriend know you're here or big poofter. But any vile remarks is out like - dirty gay, child fiddler, gay dog, disgusting gay - all these are unacceptable.

But I don't see a need for prosecution, instead a lengthy ban from all games, whether his club or another is involved.

Racism I think is a higher level. Selective prosecution can be used against the worst offenders. Otherwise banning from all football is just as effective I think.
