Seriously though, this government are big believers in league tables for schools... surely they must apply that to themselves? As far as I can see, the NHS has never been overwhelmed in the manner that we all feared. I have heard nothing to suggest that people who need ventilation have been denied it. The supply of PPE has been pushed very close to breaking point as it was always going to be, but, on the face of it we have just about coped.

There are questions to be asked about testing and whether capacity could have been built more quickly, but we started from a low base and it was always going to take time.

This pandemic has been a catastrophe for the world and for many individuals and families. We should look carefully in due course to see what lessons can be learned, but I think we should also call out the behaviour of some people – mainly from the Left in my experience – who seem to want it to be worse than it actually is in order to fulfil some of their political fantasies.

I have never cruised - the idea just doesn’t float my boat, but I did do a bit of sailing in Saint Lucia.
