A toast to Neil, good health, but....it seems like I've been here before and before, round and round the garden like a, anyway here's to another win Friday, keep it up Neil unless we fail to win then get lost you loser.
PS oh for Tom Crawford, he looked very good in the few games I saw him.
It's ironic we throw away 2 points in injury time on Tuesday then today we score twice in 90+ minutes to win.
Funny old game.
Ardley has a plan and an identity of how he wants us to play, he wants possession, tire the opposition and play the pass when it’s right. The players are good enough to do it but when confidence isn’t there it’s a lot harder than playing hoofball, hoofball on the whole doesn’t work, Nolan did it, found out December onwards because opposition worked it out coupled with he lost Yates, a player playing 2 divisions lower than his ability and perfect for that role of picking up the second ball.
Peps got about the same results as Ardley, probably budget wise head and shoulders above any premiership team and above most European teams, didn’t win the prem last season, still not won champions league and is his job on the line? no he’s been given another 2 years. No Ardleys not Pep, but maybe the owners think he’s a high quality manager at this level and given time, not 7 or 8 games it will come right over time.
13 point from 8 games.
Compared to last season
Notts 9 pts from the first 8 games
Harrogate 8 pts from the first 8 games
Barrow 7 pts from the first 8 games
Top 7 last season after 8 played

2.Halifax Town 8 19
3.Bromley 8 18
4.Maidenhead U. 8 16
5.Dover Ath. 8 15
6.Stockport Co 8 14
7.Solihull M. 8 13
Woking did not win any of their next 11 games.
Scoring two goals in added time to win a match which you’d otherwise have lost shows that this team have some character, which is commendable. But that should not disguise the fact that this wasn’t a good performance and Ardley seems to recognise this in his interview.
I remember that when we made our summer signings, there were several people on this site who were critical of the lack of a midfield ball winner and they are being proved right. Particularly in the first half, Chesterfield seemed to have the freedom of the park until they arrived at the edge of our penalty area, and that’s a risky way to play.
To me, the biggest plus today was Ruben Rodrigues. Now he’s got to start playing like that for 90 minutes.
Get in! Great three points today, and also illustrates that the players are still playing for Ardley....a great way to bounce back from Tuesdays disappointment at losing all three points so late on.
A lot on here thought today’s performance was poor, but although there were poor, or more dogged spells, in the game I actually felt it was a much improved performance from the most recent games and we thoroughly deserved the win.
From the minute Ardley made the substitutions the tempo in our game was much better and even when we lost the second goal there was something about our performance that made me think we were still well in the game.....not like the Maidenhead game where we seemed totally devoid of ideas.
There’s still much to improve, I’m not blinkered, but to finish the week with 4 points from two away games is a good return...title winning form actually 😬
