Form is a great guide, they say.

Until it doesn't suit their narrative and then all of a sudden attendances and number of season ticket sold become mysterious more relevant when judging a match result#vivaNCM

Of course I wish football was judged on size of crowds and stadium capacities then we would be nailed on for Top 2 this season.

I'm sure the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford do too. I'm afraid football doesn't work like.

A draw away at the 2nd placed team who are unsurprisingly in good form is a decent result. Regardless of whether there is 800 or 8000 in attendance.
Completely missing the point. The point is that once we accept that a draw at Boreham Wood is a good result, we also accept that we belong in this league, and this is our place. I am fully aware that we have no divine right to beat smaller clubs because we are Notts County, I'm fully aware that we are here because we deserve to be, and I'm fully aware that other clubs are also under achieving.

The day I am happy that we got a point at Boreham Wood is the day hell will freeze over.

You’re right that a point at the second-placed team who are six points ahead of us isn’t in itself a bad result, but it’s frustrating coming on the back of a defeat against an average side, and Boreham Wood didn’t sound much better.

IB talked recently about how getting back-to-back wins makes a big difference, but that will only keep us in the lower reaches of the playoffs - and 1 point out of 6 will definitely not help our cause. We need a long winning streak at some point, and Saturday would be a great time to start.

Also interesting to hear IB talk about how Boreham Wood are hard to play against because they like to get the ball and players forwards as much as possible, but don’t have any patterns in their play - it’s all rather random, depending on where the ball breaks. It does sound like the opposite of our approach, and maybe there are times when we need to do that and be a little less predictable?

Yes. A team that plays in the National League and is currently in second place, on merit. We are currently below them. A point away at the team in second place is generally considered to be.....

    Oh what's the point ffs

I'm a bit confused by that article. Burchnall is rightly full of praise for Kyle Wootton, but then says "We'll enter contract talks when we feel the moment is right for both parties. He needs to keep delivering and then we go from there". Maybe I'm making two plus two equal five, but that comes across as a bit of a kick up the arse. In my list of players I'd least like to lose, Wootton is near the top.

Can’t agree with that Elite, their up there on merit and seem to be competitive most seasons regardless of their attendances. We’re not going to enjoy much this season if we only enjoy results against teams with attendances comparable to ours.

In my case, the point is when do you find getting a point at Boreham Wood as a good result?

My answer is when you accept mediocrity.

So am I given that the lad has had to take the majority of the goalscoring burden on his shoulders for the last 2 seasons. Also given that he'll be a free agent after Jan 1st as well. No rush there then.

The point is we should be top on merit, promotion is the stated objective and expectation by most. But if you are content with not beating the teams around us then stay chilled. We're here for the long haul and I guess we should all take a leaf out of your book.

The fact is we are a fifth rate club. Most of the time I've supported Notts we've been a third rate club with occasional seasons in the dizzy heights of the top two divisions. Now we're a fifth rate club and we are to be content with a draw from a winning position at Boring Wood.
