For me we got the best out of KW when we played him alongside Wes Thomas, had a good working relationship and understanding between them.

I don't have much idea about all the tactics / strategies / etc, but it seems to me that Wooton is a very decent player for NL level, & we don't seem able to get the best from him ?

Those years were an aberration in Notts' history. Go back as far as you want and most of the time we've been 2/3rds down in however many leagues/divisions there were. A generation never saw Notts in the top flight. I started just post Lawton - seeing players like Hateley and Astle come in and be sold and failing to get into the 2nd tier. Years of dross until Sirrel got a grip. Two (good) blips in the years of dross and now more dross. I don't go down often and can barely manage the effort to watch this board.

It's great that folk like you are buying season tickets but perhaps the kind thing to have done was let the club go when it was in admin instead of killing folk with the dream of some good days again. "The good news is that the operation was a success, the bad news is that the patient is in a terminal coma".

There will need to be a step change in December otherwise I can see the remaining enthusiasm waning when reality strikes home.

Sadly true, I know people state a “Rich” history but it’s not true it’s just a long history with some very enjoyable times that didn’t last too long.

You're probably right in saying that nobody on here "accepts mediocrity", but some on here never seem to utter a single word of criticism whatever the result and whoever the opposition. You are a prime example Swale, when did you last criticise the club or the management? People like durham often get slated for their constant negativity, but you and a few others are the opposite side of that same coin. I really admire your constant positivity and it's something I try and copy in real life, but when I watch Notts I try really hard to say what I see without any bias. If I think we've played well then I'll say so, but if I think we were sh!t I'll also say so.

To quote a silly hashtag, #balancenotbias.

I'm not sure it's actually possible tbh. For starters they wouldn't post when we lose they would disappear and that's not something I've ever witnessed.

At the end of the day it's much easier to be critical and endlessly negative simply because we support Notts County FC. Like supporters of most clubs we have hardly been successful and had lots to celebrate in our club's history.

Thankfully most fans fall somewhere in the middle.

Wootton strikes me as a player that enjoys the role he has in the team and at the club.
If as you suggest he is being marked by 2 who in our team is free?
It’s funny because people moan about players being double marked, so by my count 6 opponents will be marking Woots, RR and Roberts. Which should leave more space for 3 players.
Wootton doesn’t play up front alone and will often have RR in support. I just wish we could get Roberts more involved centrally, rather than stood on a wing. Especially as our full backs are asked to get forward.
Given the way we play (suicidal passing at the back) we have plenty of opportunities for players in forward positions to be affective with cute movement. If we have RR, Roberts and Vinny moving between the lines, for me that will cause carnage as well as create space for Woots.

Well my very opening post on yesterday's match thread did mention our 'crap' performances, for example, but I'm not sure whether that counts as balance or bias

Perhaps I need to say we're crap and have no chance of promotion this season in order to further tip things toward the dark and dingy world of the pessimists? I do hope not as it must be a very unpleasant place to live.
