On reflection, today was very on-brand for us - losing to a team on a dreadful away run; not performing in front of a good crowd; and messing up on Uncle Colin’s big day. Classic Notts!

    Didn’t particularly enjoy today.
    The positives…
Good crowd. Well done Notts fans and Grimsby for bringing a crowd (even if the majority were bell-ends.)
Solid enough debut by the keeper.
Cal looked up for it and caused them issues. Good goal.

    Negatives.
The lack of finishing first half was tragic. It looked like it was set for an upset, and it paid off for them.
Midfield was, and has been, way too lightweight.
Brunt. I’m sure in a really advanced 10 slot, he’ll do well. We don’t need that slot filling. Although in saying that, Rodders and Woots were both rubbish.
General feeling around the place is slipping now.
First time I’ve heard discussions about manager change. Not sure how that’s going to work as he’s been bought in to play the way the owners want.
Everyone loves entertaining footy when it works. When it doesn’t and it goes on a slide…everyone, quite rightly, can return to the “would rather see hard man long ball and win.”

Today, I’d rather have seen a direct, hard man performance. Sorry IB, but your goodwill is going to run out sharpish as our promotion hopes disappear.

At least somebody that sees the truth

I said at the time how Burchnall was a poor appointment, hired at a strange time, had no previous experience, but i was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt

I said recently he has been no upgrade on Ardley results wise, and i rejected the nonsense that his football is better, and he gets the most out of players. All nonsense he has done absolutely nothing to sort out Notts problems, or get the most from players recently

The usual argument is judge him at the end of the season , and the old chessnut give him more time, it does not matter if he had another 100 games in my opinion , we will never be title contenders under Burchnall

Whilst i thought Notts would at least scrape a play off place, if we continue as we are, we might not even get a play off place, which i thought was unthinkable until recently

Its so simple , a 4 year old can understand, hire a manager with some experience or success at this level, unfortunately Burchnall had neither

I think if O Brien was around there would have been at least some passion on the pitch in the second half, and if he was fit questions need to be asked why he wasn’t on the bench at all, the thing that was really unacceptable in the second half was the fact we were never first to the ball, Grimsby wanted it more, and it showed.
Last week after 2 abysmal performances , I suggested dropping Wotton and Rodriguez and suggested Sam should start. I also suggested burchnall plays his cronies no matter what much the same as Ardley did. However , I was jumped on by many on here as an idiot. Funny how 1 week later many making same comments I did.
