Maybe if you are a fan of good football in general you subscribe to Sky & are happy just to see the superstars perform but if you support a particular club you are happy to follow them at any level providing you can compete ?
Some might argue that in the not too distant past we have had overpaid players. It’s all relative. I actually think 99% of players care, regardless of what we the fans think.
The problem with ANY promotion is in the main you are stepping in to the unknown and won’t know if you will compete. I’m sure Stockport thought they would go on. They may still, but it doesn’t look it at the moment.
As Sheffield United were mentioned earlier, they had a hell of a first season back in the Prem 3/4 years ago. Finishing something like 8th, but we’re in the cusp of getting in to Europe. Brentford last season did OK and beat the likes of Arsenal. This season Brighton are going well and are challenging at the top end, and that’s without spending 150m or paying stupid amounts of money.
It’s possible to actually get promoted and compete. Any fan of any club that says they are happy where they are, winning more games than they lose is nuts IMO. As fans we start EVERY season hoping this is the one where we get promotion, win a league etc… let’s not forget cup runs, we all hope to get a massive club in round 3 and beyond, knowing we are likely to get battered, but we still attend as it’s the hope that we can achieve something special. We have even beaten some decent sides in the not so distant past as well as getting a famous draw against Man City.
