Lower league less testing on his body.

I don’t think it’d matter what league he was in. I’d stand by that comment if he was with another championship club.

You may be right that we're a l1 club in size and fan base, but under Stewart have spent much of the time above that level. I for one, am thankful for that. Yep, we could return to league one, and with poor recruitment at manager level, could be even worse. But under Stewart, in all those years in a great stadium, we have been mainly in the championship. I think we should be grateful for that and count or bloody blessings.

    Every area is failing! Ffs.
I want to be clear i do not think every area is failing, my comments were more about how I don't think this close season has been a success and although i do take onboard some peoples views that the manager is the final word on recruitment, i think it is a very naive view that he is totally responsible for recruitment, that is just not how football clubs are run these days. my comments on the youth set up comes from the fact that our new manager doesn't believe that any of the players are good enough for this level, we have been playing in the championship for 70% of the last ten seasons and yet our academy isn't producing players that can play in that league, that is a FAILURE by any stretch of the imagination. I was so hopeful in may, i listened to MT and to TS and how they were going to prepare for this season, but can anyone really say we are ready or that we seem to have prepared as well as required? That doesn't mean i think TS or MT should go or anything that silly, it is that the failure to prepare well will cost us and unless we really step up in the next few weeks and can scrape a couple of decent results we won't be adding to that 70% next season.

We were stronger in 2014/15 than where we are now.

We are the weakest we've been since the dreaded saga of a certain Mt Stubbs

    This.

It's all perspective. The club has had it's best 15 years in its history in the last 15 years, certainly since 2012.

We are not a club with massive debt or terminal decline etc.

HOWEVER, once again recruitment appears to have been poor. We've been signing freebies when we should have been looking at those we can develop, like we did WITH Barlaser, Ajayi, Crookes, Rathbone, Vaulks etc.

But the money is there according to MT via Paul Davis (club don’t communicate via on website) so it’s either down to MT or the players had better offers elsewhere

There’s an article in the Y Post today that gives MT, s view on recruitment
He’s disappointed too and we’ve missed out on a lot of quality targets to bigger clubs
The budget has been increased but it appears as though every other clubs has done too including some L2 and NL clubs. I assume he’s referring to Wrexham and Oldham

So the club and MT feel as though we’ve pushed the spending enough with any further movement putting the club at risk

So has the recruitment been poor or are we not willing to go back to the dark times?

On a positive note he still thinks some quality players will arrive as they won’t get fixed up or other clubs will let them out to us

    Thanks ST

Liverpool just about to shell out a conservative £111m on a Brighton player plus agent and signing on fees, plus detached house on the Wirral
