Derby you have got this wrong. When managers get relieved of their duties these days they generally get put on the equivalent of garden leave for effectively the notice period that is in their contract, usually 12 months. So to take another job they have to either forgo their original salary for the rest of the notice period or usually via the PFA agree a compromise agreement which will take into account their new contract salary. The crucial thing is they need their original employer to play ball, I am told that Saints are playing hardball with Jones, hence why he has shown interest in the Wed, Rotherham and Brizzle Rovers jobs and none have gone anywhere.

The same contact who told me the above also believes Rowett cannot take a job until the end of January without Millwall's permission.

So maybe appointing a new manager is not as easy as some on here think.
