In any position in the real world the standard is 90 days / 3 months to see if someone can handle themselves in a position. For football managers / head coaches I try to reserve judgement until at least ten games in.

I absolutely agree that so far SM is not working out. But in the owners' position I would certainly be giving him more time just as a matter of basic sanity.

There are obviously deep problems with our defence. Our last game we scored three goals and had 66% possession or so. If we hadn't also managed to concede four goals, that would have been a roaring success and we'd all be praising the new guy. I am absolutely one hundred percent behind the idea that we need to strengthen our defence at the next window and sincerely hope we do so.

I have to admit I found it a bit wacky we brought in yet another attacking player when our defence has been our entire problem all season. So I assume Jatta is a fantastic prospect. Cos otherwise that makes absolutely no sense. Hopefully he's another Reuben-level player for us in the fullness of time

In the mean time, hopefully SM can turn the ship around at least somewhat in the coming games. Maybe he needs to stick with four at the back. Let's see what he does and try to get behind him and our ailing defence. I think it's telling that we seem weaker at home than we are away: perhaps thousands of fans screaming at you and booing every time you make a mistake isn't the best thing for confidence or something.
Nailed it. Sacking a manager after six weeks would be crazy. All sane neutrals and football pundits would call us out for not giving him more time. The narrative would be "Notts return to their old ways of hiring and firing." We'd look like a complete joke.

Football fans are naturally emotional. Thankfully, our owners aren't. I expect them to give Maynard more time and support, and all this talk of sacking him and who we should replace him with simply isn't helpful right now. Do people have any idea how disruptive it would be to have three head coaches in three months, as well as an interim head coach? And as I've said before, what happens if the new-new man starts with a poor run of results because our defenders continue to make stupid mistakes? Then what?

We all need to keep calm and support the team.
