I don't regard people as fans unless they have any sort of intention to attend. As a kid I had some interest but back then it was only really WCs because of coverage. By the time I was old enough (kid/adolescent) to see the way England fans behave abroad, I knew I'd never attend and interest fizzled out. It's not extraordinary, nor interesting.

Different people find different subjects interesting. Also my perception of fan is different to yours.

Genuinely interested I go all away games and not sure in what regards we are poor.

If you came across as 'genuinely interested' rather than just poking to see where you may have an argument to follow, I'd go further. You don't really come across as anything approaching 'interested' in other views.

I don't own the definition. Many on here differ on this point. Some think people missing away games aren't serious, I don't go that far with it.

It could have turned out that your parents had different allegiances that’s why you were never a fan. It could have turned out that your Dad never watched England because of how fans behaved, while dodging punches from Chelsea fans at Millmoor, and passed that onto you.

It could be that your your parents are the biggest England fans going and you have based it on your own judgment as a child.
