Two good posts Irishpete .
Unfortunately Southgate was indeed a negative and stubborn manager as was Sven during his tenure before him.
A motivational manager would have seized those opportunities not shyed away from them .

Whilst he did a lot of good things for me he was far too reactive than proactive. The team was knackered from a long season yet he started the same players and kept them on the majority of the games because he didn’t trust others.
