Teams (Notts included) hog possession but fear losing the ball because it means they'll normally get scored on, so they won't play players who have flair for fear of losing possession and then losing the game. They should be questioning why they aren't miles ahead in the first place with all the possession
‘Making the possession count’ is the perfect line here. Objectively, it makes more sense to have the ball as often as possible which is why possession, generally, is considered king.

Thursday night, although a tiny sample size, was a real example of Notts really making their possession count by both maintaining possession and actually allowing our two most creative players to play with enormous freedom. If SM can strike a balance of building a solid base that allows JJ and DC to shine, then sign me up.

There’s also definitely a fine line between ‘not wanting to lose the ball’ and ‘being patient and waiting for an opening.’ That line probably gets crossed quite fluidly from a fans POV depending on the trend of results.
