    All food that is moist and hot along with most drinks is subjected to VAT at 20%. Some women too should perhaps be subject to VAT, even at say 10%, in these trying fiscal times - maybe a topic for discussion at one of the Green Party’s sponsored luncheons, Lorna?

    1 May, 1984 was the date that the late Baroness Thatcher introduced VAT on takeaway food - I don’t remember that at all as I couldn’t even afford a takeaway back then and we had very few takeaway food outlets in Shetland at that point in time anyway!
