Exactly what I would do. I would take the selfish option of getting the job done at the lowest price. It wouldn't be a moral issue at all, just stop the bloody leak! But getting a plumber in an emergency is a bit different to voting for someone to decide your future and your families future for the next few years. Given my age and circumstances, I should be a typical Tory (Republican) voter, but my rather shallow morals still won't allow me.
