We need to get back to having a strong academy and bringing our own players through. Veteran last chance men have deflected us from this.
Every player will be grateful to come here when no other club wants them..those same players will leave to go elsewhere when the moneys right..its life..but if the money was right here, theyd stay..we cant compete.. simple as...
Nails on the heads, Derby.
As with some other op points.
A lot is hidden behind this lack of money nonsense. Warne managed this division better than anyone else during nys years.
Lack of money only really applies to when we have gone up?.but again, warne 6 minutes away from it at cardiff, and we scraped it twice other times.
Under ronnie we kept up quite a while, maybe a different era, but we still had the money disparity then.
It?s all about how the club is managed, who we recruit on and off the pitch. But the ones in charge keep making the same mistakes.
I don't disagree with the sentiment but I'm struggling to remember when we've ever had a strong academy. We bring so few of our own players through and that's been the case for years, maybe even decades.
Personally I think we would probably get a better return from strengthening our scouting network to cover non-league and overseas opportunities but that's probably a bit of a stretch for a club that doesn't seem to do much in the way of forward planning.
Bang on in all respects. Phenomenal teams we had in the past came from superb scouting... we were just a little outfit then, too.
There are handfullofrice stars across the world just begging for a chance.
But our infrastructure, in fact our whole imagination for future planning, is more myopic than Elton John...
There is no plan at this club, there never has been and never will be until we have new owners with positive ideas, ambition and funded to go forward. Not run on a year to year survival programme. There is no foundation to build on and we have had promise after promise that "we have learnt from the mistakes we have made" We've all had enough !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
