We come out from the off all guns blazing, well all back/ square passes blazing, maybe get a first half goal. Second half the opposition have worked us out and bang bang they walk away with the points, can't wait for the next away game!.

Whatever you make of the results and league position, I think there's a fair amount of consensus amongst Notts fans that Maynard's brand of football is tough to watch, and that's putting it politely. I can't summon up any enthusiasm for the idea of having to sit through it again next season, but I've renewed my season ticket in far worse circumstances than this, so I probably will. The question is whether some of the more "floating" elements of our support would want to see this tripe again, especially those who were perhaps spoilt by the true entertainment on offer in our promotion-winning season.
There’s a reason the crowd’s support generally starts off strong, before the ground quickly turns into a library - the lack of anything to cheer on the pitch. Didzy is the only one who’s able to produce something special - his nutmeg and curled shot that just deflected wide in the first half was a thing of beauty.
For me, all of these recent home loses just highlight how much we’ve missed Dan Crowley. I’m glad the owners reportedly made a lot of money on the sale to MK Dons, but it may well cost us promotion in such a weak year.
Dan Crowley's comments before and since his departure leave no doubt that that he wanted to leave and considered his game for us against MK Dons to be an audition. In those circumstances the club has to take the money while it's there (which ironically is what Crowley did!). You're right that any League two team would miss a player of his quality, but his commitment to us was clearly wafer thin. He saw us simply as a platform to get to somewhere else.
Losing Crowley and not adequately replacing him has almost certainly cost us promotion, barring some kind of freak or miracle via playoffs or something now.
We are two wins short of auto at this point - the increased GD from two extra wins would then see us through. Hard not to see how keeping Crowley wouldn't have got us two more wins.
In fact I still think a number of other factors going just slightly more our way would have seen us through to an automatic place this season. Fewer injuries or even just a bit of better luck in a few matches. We aren't anywhere near as far off as the calls for SM's head would imply.
I'm not sure you can have someone lined up to replace Dan Crowley immediately, but of course it was the same owners who identified and brought him to the club in the first place. There's not always someone to "blame" for a player leaving without a direct replacement being available, it's sometimes a case of having little choice but to do the deal even though you might prefer not.
No one thinks we are miles off, but thats more to do with the paucity of the league than any qualities we possess. Any one whos been to our home games will say boredom and frustration have been the dominant feelings after attending them. Just completely wrong when the club is heading the right way in every other department.
