I'm with Durham and have said the same a few times. Easy to say get another coach, like they are on the shelves at Lidl. There was a possibility, even right to the last month, that we might have got up. Rushing to get a coach before the new director of football arrived, and then maybe having to live with that rushed decision for some of next season, then another sacking - that's not how the Bros work, they have more patience than that.

Nobody knows why the Saunders brothers left but we do know we filled their role with Alves.

The owners have to take some blame though if they deliberately sacked off the season or pit another way didn’t give the CLUB the best chance of promotion.

The recruitment was frankly awful in Jan and everybody knows it and not one of the signings started the home game against Wimbledon that is telling regardless of what I/we think of Maynard those players were nowhere near good enough and that isn’t on the head coach either.

Is it right for him to go ? Yes but others at the club need to learn from this signing young talent is fine but you do need someone who is going to be a starter to push you on.

Austin over Jarvis (twice!) was termination-worthy just by itself

Not really Jarvis is talented but hasn?t shown any consistency since being here either you?re making out he has dropped prime John Barnes for Austin.

As I said the window in Jan was sh*t you might think differently.

Well I'm certainly happy we paid a fee and have him for signed up for another three years. The way he can go past good EFL players is a mouth-watering prospect and he'll still be only 25 when his contract ends in 2028.

It's always a bad sign when there's a disconnect between coaches and recruitment, and it doesn't generally end well for the coaches as they're going against the main thing the likes of Montague and Gagliardi do...

Ardley not picking Rodrigues didn't work out well for him. Ditto Chicksen
Burchnall not playing Nemane, giving us a full year of DKE at RWB put him on track for failure and couldn't have gone down well
Two play-off semis where SM brings SA in from nowhere over Jarvis was head scratching to say the least. I dare anyone to watch those games back.

It's a point worth remembering IMO, whoever we bring in now has to work in sync with the the Head of Recruitment, Gagliardi.

I read it as saying that since he came back from injury Austin has offered next to nothing, while Jarvis has looked a genuine threat at times.

Im fairly sceptical about the whole thing anyway. Did LW really go in to last season with little say in whether we kept our NL defence or not? I find that hard to believe.
I had heard that LW was very much the driving force behind keeping the bulk of that team together and new deals for players like Slocombe, Chicksen and Rawlinson. Also that the goalkeeping coach at the time was the one behind Aidan Stone.

So maybe they gave some leeway to a successful coaching team that summer. But with how it went, both in terms of keeping some players who proved not to be up to it and LW leaving for a bigger job a few months later anyway, they probably won?t be doing it again.

I think the owners certainly look at whether the head coach can get the best out of the talent they sign.

SM seemed not to know how to do that and neither did NA - the only two that have been let go by the brothers.

The model is to sign potential and have them be coached to be better to serve the club whilst they are here and potentially demand a transfer fee to better the position of the club as whole.

Out of the 3 head coaches that have been brought in under their ownership 2 have gone to clubs in a higher league for compensation. It?s a pretty decent track record that deserves respect IMO.

Maynard sees them train his head is on the block and as he is defensive he went with the experience in fairness quite alot of managers would too.

Austin is solid you know what you are getting from him Jarvis is differemt type but i'd have played him 2nd game too if honest too.

As he is now gone it makes no odds its done its what we do going forward I just hope there is no repeat of gambling on injury prone players ie Cundy/Ness that was stupid as both play CB.

I think there’s more than a few people who know why the Saunders brothers left!
Just ask Cedwyn. Don’t ask about the wife though!
