Swinney was banging on today at First Minister’s Question Time in Holyrood that the only solution for Scotland is independence and he can pull all the levers.
Swinney is a ‘one trick’ pony.
Swinney does not seem to understand that an independent Scotland would immediately lose their current ?63 billion annual handout from Westminster and they would not be able to balance the books without huge tax increases, large public spending cuts or borrowing the money which would have to be repaid in full including interest due.
Failure to do that would result in Swinney or whoever is the First Minister having to go cap in hand for a large bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with the IMF dictating the rules to be imposed to balance the Scottish Government’s books.
Yes
Minimum is ?227.10 per week I think.
So if you ain't getting that will be topped up to that as a single person.
You can also apply for Scottish version of attendance allowance if you aren't currently on Scottish adult disability payment.
More than likely receive council tax reduction and/or housing benefit if in rented accomodation.
When I first started in insurance state pension was ?63....1989.....if I remember correctly
Which is the equivalent of ?168 today
Average UK pensioner ?407 per week
Minimum wage full time job 21 ?22,200
Bear in mind a pensioner will have add ons....like SAD or AA
I accept that not all pensioners will be on anything like ?407 but that's UK average.
Youngster will have much more expenses plus NI and will have had no time to build up savings......so why the discount at aulder age for match instead of younger.
Answers on a postcard.....to that's how it's always worked and that's how it will continue to work, Dens park, Dundee
Pensioners will only have add ons paid by the DWP if they do not also have company pension.
If you scrap the reduced prices for OAPs at Dens Park then the home attendances will plummet as Dundee Football Club has an aged support with a lot of supporters especially amongst the season ticket holders who are OAPs. If you do not believe me then take a look in the Main Stand at the next home game outwith the home games against Rangers and Celtic which will be on Saturday 29th November 2025 against St Mirren.
