With Kuch leaving early in the window, I was fully expecting an announcement on a new keeper rapido i.e. like by today. We cannot afford to pus5y about here. What if Dave gets injured on Saturday for instance (or even worse in training tomorrow - wouldn’t exactly be the first injury picked up in training this season). That’s us then down to Adams and er, who else exactly?

Mitov was supposedly a good keeper but the coaching from Hinchcliffe has made him worse. What exactly do goalie coaches do to make players worse? Under Alexander Siegrist was good. Banks was a good coach as Pernis was a good keeper. Likewise I think three of the four Polish keepers we've had have been good with The Monk imo the pick of them. Sieb and Guido were good keepers. Try another Ukraine keeper, one who can catch the ball until the end of the season, Maksym Koval.

Completely unacceptable to play so negatively against a struggling team and we stand as the only team Thelin not to lose to in his last 5 games. A team who this season lost at home to Falkirk Motherwell, Hibs and drew with Livingston and St Mirren hardly world beaters deserving of a back to the wall defensive effort to try and sneak a result. They were very much there for the taking.

I don't dislike JG but his negativity and too cautious approach is costing us points and stifling creativity. And these terrible slow starts to games which I think is a symptom of his cautious approach.

I agree that we were better once they equalised and we went at them but it's hindsight to think that would have been the case from the off with the players they have in attack to be too open, they were not struggling at the time so that's wrong right away, they were in the top 2 over the last ten games form table when we went there and had just beaten Hearts at home

We went there and were very comfortable and but for a poor spill from Richards (not sure the first time) would likely have got the win, hence we need a steady keeper

If we attacked from the off then we'd likely not have been in that position, we went there without some key players, Graham and Luca, we had Bert at the back etc

The 3-4-3 system has worked ok away to the bigger sides, it's not the system, it's needing or best players on the park consistently

Oh well, so it begins. That’s Jak Alnwick signed for Huddersfield Town. We’re only a week in and it’s already starting to feel like it’s going to be another belter of a January window……………

You would think that if we got an offer for a player and sold that player we would have our preferred replacement lined up? Maybe the manager isn't getting the funds because his eye for a player is more like a glass eye these days.

Doesnt sound like getting a keeper in is much of a priority

“It (goalkeeping situation) is not a major concern. Dave Richards has shown everybody that he’s more than capable to be Dundee United’s number one. He’s had a good run of games now and I think the confidence is there.

“Young Ruiaridh Adams is a good prospect after coming through the academy; a Scotland U/21 international. So, we do feel that we’ve got good players in that area. Obviously, with Kucherenko leaving, it opened a position.

“But we’re not going to just bring someone in just for the sake of it. If you look at a lot of Premiership teams, they’re in a similar situation – with a good, experienced goalkeeper and then a younger one there coming behind, pushing.

“It’s not out of the ordinary.

“But at the same time, if we feel there’s one out there that is going to improve that particular area of the squad, then of course we’re in a position to do something.”

I help out when I can but my elderly neighbour regularly goes down the Lidl middle aisle to find 'bargains' the shop can't sell and then goes to other shops whoops aisles looking for heavily reduced stuff approaching their sell by date.

Reminds me of Utd's transfer strategy during the windows.

So basically it would appear that it was Jak Alnwick or nothing at all. And now he’s signed for Huddersfield it would appear it’s going to be nothing at all. Although it’s not as desperate as with Poppadom, nonetheless I think we’ve just kissed top 6 goodbye. Dave seems a character and appears a little more reliable than Kuch, however he’s already had his fair share of brain farts, additionally cannae catch a ball and constantly ‘beats out’ shots rather than holding them and finally does not bring the one very thing that Kuch brought to the side - the ability to be good with the ball at feet and be able to play incisive passes from the back to open up quick counter attacks. That was the very thing that JG stressed at the start of the season that Kuch was going to be so important for in our ‘new shape’ and that it was integral to what we were going to be trying to do. So I guess that’s all out the window (pun intended) now?

How about come the summer we sign two experienced keeper to fight it out for the goalkeeper position. If one keeper cements the place in goal we could give him a extension while we would let the other keeper go. In doing so we would then go and get another keeper on another one year deal and say we want you to push him and dislodge him if possible.

We signed Kucherenko as number one and now we have the number two who thought he might get the occasional game but now getting more and his flaws are showing.

If we want to stick to nationalities we know who could be suited to the Scottish game what about another ski in Kristijan Naumovski or Norwegian Sten Grytebust on a deal to the end of the season.
