It’s funny because people moan about players being double marked, so by my count 6 opponents will be marking Woots, RR and Roberts. Which should leave more space for 3 players.
Wootton doesn’t play up front alone and will often have RR in support. I just wish we could get Roberts more involved centrally, rather than stood on a wing. Especially as our full backs are asked to get forward.
Given the way we play (suicidal passing at the back) we have plenty of opportunities for players in forward positions to be affective with cute movement. If we have RR, Roberts and Vinny moving between the lines, for me that will cause carnage as well as create space for Woots.
In theory it sounds that we are unbeatable, but it seldomly works out like that. We struggle to finish teams off when we go in front and always look like conceding...That to me is not causing carnage...

All good strikers need a strike partner to share the load. One up front works only if there is support.

Impossible. We can't have 2 main strikers, how the Hell would we fit them into the team!!!

Years of dross until Sirrel got a grip. Two (good) blips in the years of dross and now more dross. I don't go down often and can barely manage the effort to watch this board.

It's great that folk like you are buying season tickets but perhaps the kind thing to have done was let the club go when it was in admin instead of killing folk with the dream of some good days again. There will need to be a step change in December otherwise I can see the remaining enthusiasm waning when reality strikes home.
Sadly true, I know people state a “Rich” history but it’s not true it’s just a long history with some very enjoyable times that didn’t last too long.

This subject got me wondering how often we have been in the top flight as I wasn’t 100% sure, in over 90 years it’s apparently 4 seasons, those 3 early 80s and the one under Warnock

Yep, hard to say we genuinely belong up there but it's nice to think we could one day. Bournemouth had their day in the sun and Brentford are having theirs. Neither of those would have been predictable 20-odd years ago.

When you also look where Brighton, Burnley and Swansea were a few years ago.

Well Bournemouth had a billionaire owner, i am not sure about Brentford, but i doubt the chairman was short of a penny.

The fact is folks the game is all about money, the reason Notts have fell down the leagues over the last 20 years is, the owners since pavis have not had 2 shillings to rub together, we have nearly gone out of business on numerous occasions

Example take our neighbours forest have had losses over 25 million in the last 5 years, none of our owners could get even close to pocketing that loss

Brentford owner Matthew Benham made his money in professional sports gambling, like the owner of Brighton. Interesting article on him here:

    https://huddleup.substack.com/p/the-...ho-turned-700k

I found this particularly noteworthy (my use of bold):
"While the top clubs in the world were investing millions of dollars in their youth academies, Brentford FC decided to eliminate theirs completely. Instead, they relied on a “B team” of 17-to-20-year-olds that had been rendered useless by other clubs.

"Why? Because Brentford believed you had to give a young player at least 35 games before determining his value, but the richest teams in the world didn’t have the time, patience, or appropriate infrastructure to do that. As a small club willing to experiment, Brentford did."

Given that he reportedly invested $10 million in a Danish club to see if his moneyball method worked, the guy clearly is operating on a different level to our owners.
