It'll be far harder to defend against the likes of Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich than Harrogate, Crawley and Walsall.
LW will have much better defenders to work with and perhaps more input regards recruitment; but he's going to be up against far superior attackers - so who knows what will happen.
Notts under LW have provided perhaps the most most fantastic entertainment in all my (50+) years as a fan.
I'm only 49 years a Notts fan, and still have great memories of Sirrel, Warnock and Allardyce (and Cotterill and Moniz!) but agree with the sentiment. Luke Williams Notts might be my absolute favourite.
totally gutted to lose him, but hardly a surprise. Overriding feeling right now is just how brilliant he made us while he was here. Thanks, Luke and good luck.
We're going to see exactly how much of our uptick in fortunes is down to the bros. My guess is we'll be alright, and could challenge for playoffs this season. It will depend on the new boss obviously, but also on the character of the guys in our squad. I think we'll be alright.
Whilst I only watch Notts on the TV I've watched various L2 managers in the seasons before we went down Ardley Birch and Williams. Watching Notts under Williams always had a different feeling about it after the first few games and including this season I sat down to watch every game confident we could win. I can only say that about one other Notts manager which was Warnock before we went up to the old division one. However the way we played under Williams was ( is) wonderful. Clearly he is on the way barring a miracle. Just want to say thank-you really. In the brothers we trust to locate a suitable replacement. I would be very very interested to know the size of the compo package. Surely 3-400k at least?
Thanks folks, it’s looking like his agent and a lawyer are doing the final bits overnight. Not sure how far the actual compensation has gone, we’ve been told it’s not an issue. It’s only been six months or so since Russell Martin left, so the style of play isn’t going to be too hard for the squad to get to grips with, although we’ve sold a few. Michael Duff dismantled the concept that Williams and Martin introduced at Swansea. I hope you don’t get him, he’s bland and very boring to watch. Best of luck to you, should be announced Thursday afternoon ( If our chairman doesn’t start playing cockball, which he is known for ) Cheers.

I get the feeling Swansea Independent knows about as much as we do and is just assuming with what the media say is true![]()
Definitely a big blow for the club, players and fans, but that’s the price we pay for success and playing such an attractive brand of football. Can’t blame LW or RH for making the most of their current status as hot young coaches - they deserve the chance.
They’re also leaving a very attractive project behind for the next young coach to follow in their footsteps. Our last two managers have now jumped up two divisions because of their work at Notts - frustrating for us, but shows we’re clearly doing something right.
